Thanks Paul. He is availabale in 1/72nd in  the Polar Lights C-57D Space Cruiser (the Forbidden Planet space cruiser). I have this model as well in my stash, but beware the built model is huge in 1/72, like a small dustbin lid. Its not cheap either. http://www.round2models.com/models/polar-lights/spacecruiser   :D

From your comments regarding the other figures, I'd say these are indeed 1/72.....23.5mm seems to be a reasonable average for figures in 'God's Own Scale'.

It makes the crew figures six footers to a man, but hey these are strapping space adventurers we are talking about!

Ayup Sarge...

But they all ARE in the film, except for the cook and his no-doubt 'Stunting' Bourbon Whiskey...

Indeed.....I'm finding myself sorely tempted to investigate this 1/72 kit!  :P

Especially if the Robbie supplied can re-produce bottles of whisky as in the film  :)
It is pretty expensive!!!!

The model that is, not the whiskey

It’s not so much the figures as the actual space cruiser itself. The stairs look way too large for 1/72nd scale figures to clamber up and down comfortably. Fictional craft are notorious for scale irregularities, Tardis like, they always appear bigger on the inside due to studio filming, e.g. Space 1999 and the large eagle interiors and so on. I'll post pics on "models on the go" when I can.

Why not post them here.....That way they won't vanish into the depths of the biggest thread on the site.

Just a thought, all the best

Not done much but thought I would see how the saucer sections went together. First image is the top deck interior with some filling and sanding. I have started testing some colours as well. (Not shown here)

Image

This is the top of the saucer section 1/3 of it at least. There is a large gap on the upper surface where the two parts meet as the sections are not squared off they are rounded! It’s also going to be very flimsy once built so there needs to be a lot of bracing before I start filling and sanding. I think this will have to be conducted in the garden as my modelling space is just not big enough.

Image

1/72? Feels more like 1/1!!!!! :fear:

Yes he is there in the form of a transparent moulding, two parts one is his mouth. It also represents the field generator posts either side of him. I forgot to build him when I was constructing the other figures but I will probably do him when I need to get away from the big build.

Some further pictures of the top saucer section undergoing construction.  These first two pictures give you some idea of the scale at 1/72. It’s about 70 cm in diameter or 27 inches.

This is the top view.

Finally the gaps between each part are filled, hopefully to set in the sunshine we are having today.

More to follow...
