Well, I don't see an Airfix Advent Calendar this year.

Can't say I'm surprised after last year's was hacked and the pictures revealed early.

Shame really.

Andy

By DaveCov: Title renamed as the 2014 Airfix Advent Calendar is now available

Patience grasshopper. There will be an advent calendar, although the content and form will be different to last years (which concentrated on sneak peaks of the new range), lessons have been learned from the last 2 years about the accessibility of images  .

That's good news (just what should arrive in Advent really). :thumb:

I'm pleased Airfix haven't been totally put off by the inexcusable actions of a small minority, and are taking appropriate action and precautions themselves. :thumb:

I wasn't actually being impatient, merely commenting on the situation as it appeared. But now you've whetted my appetite...

The thought passed through my mind that the absence of the Advent Calendar was due to the fact that the Hornby group has all its staff in the Warehouse packing all the orders generated by the 'Black Friday' sale.

You sure, Andy, that you are not one of those people who open every door of the advent calendar as soon as you get one - especially if each door contains choccies behind?

Today's giveaway is a wallpaper download, I guess the non-UK residents can't complain that they won't get it, but not exactly the excitement of winning a free model :(

My girlfriend bought me one last year and it took a lot of self-control to stick to eating one choccie a day, I can tell you!

Chocolate advent calendars caused nothing but grief ended up giving the kids the chocolate early to stop the pestering and fighting. 6 Lego ones this year, hoping they are less hassle but an ouch to the wallet.

Back to Airfix, must say I quite like the new format and definitely like the 111 art. Slow start but here's looking forward to some more teasers for 2015.

Its Desktop calendars across all the Hornby group companies. I'll have to admit I prefer the Airfix ones.

I must say that I suspected the "leaks" to have been entirely deliberate, especially the second year when any slightly competent web designer could prevent it happening again.

Both years set off a ferment of discussion and speculation - Airfix was BIG news. So far this year we have the December wallpaper (which would be there anyway, advent calendar notwithstanding) and a lucky draw with a very nice prize and nothing whatsoever positive and new to discuss.

Unimaginative marketing IMO. Which is very unlike them

Shane

All the brands get the same, I thought it quite a good deal, but then I realised they wanted me to pay them 5.99 for it rather than them paying me to take it :(

I fully expect some other offers for things that they have left over from the Last, last last (seriously the last) chance sale and Black Monday will be lurking behind some of the other doors
