Chaps,

Having just purchased the diecast EFE ARC Clubmobile in 1/76th scale, I wondered if anyone might know how accurate the grey colour is, and indeed, what the correct colour was? I have to do some scratch building of the serving hatches, folding platform and some of the interior, to replace the standard bus seats, so I will need to do a certain amount of external painting also. The EFE model, as painted, has fairly large areas of white paint around the wheel arches. I know this was done to many civilian vehicles to enable them to be seen better, (allegedly), in the blackout. The limited number of original photos of clubmobiles that I have found don’t seem to show this, so could this be an error, or might the model be based on a restored vehicle?

I would appreciate anyone’s comments regarding the correct finish of these vehicles. Also, the EFE model doesn’t feature the red “American Red Cross Clubmobile” markings on either side. I would be grateful for any advice on how to replicate these.

Thanks,

Tim

Hello there,
Whilst bumbling around the internet I came across what you are looking for. I was looking at the same sheet for for similar projects. Hope this helps.

Thanks Michael, those decals are spot on.

Unfortunately, they are presently out of stock, but I've dropped a line to Black Lion asking when they might have more availablel.

The EFE 10T10 model I have apparently represents an ARC ambulance, hence no Clubmobile markings. However, if I can crack the authentic blue-grey colour, (all advice and opinions welcome.... please), I'll only have a new interior to work on.

Presently waiting for Black Lion to reply.

As for the blue-grey, I wonder if it was the same colour as that used on utility wartime buses and AFS/NFS wartime vehicles.

Can anyone kindlt comment?

Thanks,

Tim

Hi

In a minute.

The color ... good question. There are two pictures in color. You can see them here

For the interior, there is a good collection of pictures (about 130 I think) with good views of the interior, I don't know if you have it, here it's the link:

Later, with more time, I'll connect again and I'll pass also for the welcome section

P.S. Do you have already the recipe for the doughnuts? :D
