Welcome to the ATF Third Anniversary Group Build for which I am Group Build Leader. The build starts on 21st April 2009 and ends on 21st June 2009. This is the "Chat" thread for the GB and any reference material should be posted in the Reference Section.  Rules for this Group Build are simple -

Anything goes as long as the kits are Airfix!  So, you can make a kit OOB, bung a lot of bits from your spares box on a kit to create a really wacky machine, do a "what-if", anything!

If you wish to take part  in the Group Build, you must sign on using the Usergroups link at the top of the screen (above the Log in/Log out link).

Important: Do NOT sign up as a participant of a Group Build if you only want to view the threads!

To take part in the Group Build:

Click on "Usergroups"

In the "Join a Group" section, select "Group Build - ATF Third Anniversary GB"

Click "View Information"

Click on "Join Group".

When your membership of the Usergroup is confirmed, you will be given your own thread in the ATF Third Anniversary Group Build Forum to post details of your build.

That's all there is to it!

If you are not sure how Group Builds work, you can read the rules here.

I love this GB already. I'll join up when I've made my mind up.

Me too. Hopefully I'll be able to finish a couple before this one starts. All I have to do then is decide what I'll be building.

At the moment I can’t decide between the HMS. Nelson, the Anti-Pesto Van, or the Hawker P1127.

I think the Anti-Pesto Van will win in the end.

All the best from Jesper.

I have a scary idea fulminating at present.

It depends whether I'm feeling brave enough to carry it out.

Okay, this should give you some idea:

It will however have some 'extras'.

Airfix 1:48 TSR.2 with Xtradecals What If Sheet 2 Empire Test Pilot School Red/White/Blue scheme. To be completed with wheels up on a suitable stand (probably a black stand from a 1:24 Superkit).

Cheers
Al.

1. Flying boats are aerodynamically inefficient (circular cross-section fuselages are good, chined hulls are not);
2. I suspect that reaching a good jetstream altitude is difficult for a boat;and
2. Corrosion from salt water is nasty.

On the plus side, deadstick landing on water shouldn't be quite so disastrous.

All 3 of those have always been the case Brews, & if anything, we're better placed now to deal with them.
You might want to put Beriev into google, they still regularly manfacture military flying boats for Russia.
