Ace - I'll be able to use the pics from our trip to Brooklands with Ratch and farmroad38 for this.

Making the most of there still being just the two of us!
I've pulled the Vanguard from the stash, so the intentions are good, at least...

Right, unerway at last - I don't think I'm going to finish within the "official" time, though. The kit is an e-bay win from a good while ago but the seller supplied the BEA decals along with it. That's a good job, really, because the decals that come with this edition were, apparently, completely wrong as the Vanguard never flew in BA's Negus scheme. The only version that did was the Merchantman freighter.
This is the edition I'm going to build, which is the 1990s "Classic Airliners" boxing:
The sprues are all moulded in light grey, rigid plastic, which is OK in itself but it has the problem that there's quite a bit of flash and the engine exhausts, which would have been delicate in the first place, are almost unmoulded, with the divider between each "pipe" virtually not there at all. Clearly it's been through the wars a bit, too, as the parts are largely well clear of the sprues and two of the four props have a blade snapped off. This are twiddling little problems, really.
And these are the decals I'll be using, from Twosix. There's a good choice of aircraft to select from and, as usual, window strips are included, so I'll need to start out by filling the windows on the fuselage and that means that obviously I won't be using the transparencies.
I've started out with a little detail painting and I need to search out a few images from the web to be sure that I get things right!

I've made seriosu rapid progress this weekend. Yesterday I glued sprue across the backs of the windows and filled the openings with Humbrol filler. I added the main doors and filled the gaps on those, too. Then I fixed the broken props and this morning I started painting the blades H64. Photos show that the prop boss is the same colour as the underside of the fuselage and the props just a slightly different shade.
Today I've sanded back the filler, added weight to the nose, put the bulheads in place and glued the two fuse halves together. Yesterday I'd already glued the wing halves together and today I've joined them to the fuselage. This evening I glued the two halves of each horizontal stabiliser together. It means that the percentage of the "big stuff" is together with only the horizontal tail needing to be added.

I've just had a few minutes on this and now the Vanguard has its horizontal tail, the ram air intakes on the "cheeks" and I've painted the backs of the propellors in H64 as well. No photies, though, I'm afraid. Everything's now setting and I've also dribbled some glue into the open sections of the seams on the fuse, meaning they can soon be sanded sanded back ready for filler. I'm a bit troubled by the nose, though, as the two halves really haven't mated up very well there.

A bit more filling and sanding - ho-hum!
I'll post a photo when there's something worth posting - no point in wasting bandwidth...

My Vanguard's come on in leaps and bounds since about Thursday but I won't be able to finish the GB in time, sadly, as I'm going to be away.
Anyway, I've filled and sanded as I mentioned above. I then added the cockpit glazing (filled and sanded back as this is going to use the two-six decals for the windscreen) and put the main and nose landing gear legs into place.
Then, yesterday, I added two coats of H64 as primer and this is the result:

It's working quite well - I've just airbrushed the second coat of white on the upper fuselage and it's going on really nicely.

Dan took these this morning before I took him to the airport, so I'm posting these pictures for him.
His Vanguard is coming along well with the white and grey now done and looking good.
