I have been involved in three model displays this month and been very busy at work with a VAT return
to prepare as well as being on my own in the office during Easter week.
Thinking about a new model has not been uppermost in my mind.
But I`m now back from Perth and should have some idea come the weekend. _________________ Roger. |

Finally got started yesterday.
It`s going to be the LCM (3) and Sherman 1, starting with the LCM.
Having read the GB on the Sherman, it is going to need a lot of remedial work on it.
That said the instructions on the LCM seem very vague in places as to the lining up of various parts.
Some photos later. _________________ Roger. |

The contents of the Sherman bag.
Followed by the parts for the LCM.
The LCM well under construction. The well deck came nowhere near the sides so plastic strips were added to both sides of the floor to get a better fit.
Colours used for the deck and interior are those listed in the instructions. Does anyone know if they are accurate?
I didn`t fancy the plain Grey scheme so I decided to try something a bit different.
Can any of the "floaty" people comment on its accuracy? _________________ Roger. |

On to the tank.
Return skids were made out of a length of Evergreen plastic strip, bent round a needle file and superglued in place. I should probably have used a wider strip but I am using this build as a learning experiance on AFVs.
The suspension and wheels have been assembled and the tracks fitted. The problem with the drive sprocket was solved by gluing a small piece of plastic card on the inside of each half and ended up as a perfect fit on the tracks.
The only other problem is that the tracks are too long. I will superglue them to the wheels to finish it off. _________________ Roger. |

False floors have been fitted to the driving compartment and to the turret to enable crew figures to be fitted at a later date if so desired.
The hull has now been assembled and widened with plastic card as described in the Sherman Group Build. On the turret the pistol port blob was removed and a new one will be built up with plastic card, stretched sprue and strip.
Applique armour was made from plastic card and fitted to the hull, the turret has still to be done.
The new pistol port was finished off and a pair of mudguards, made from plastic card were fitted.
I still have to make up lifting brackets, headlamps and guards and anything else that the the experts reckon I have forgotten. _________________ Roger. |

Some more done to the Sherman.
Applique armour added to turret.
Lamp guards and lifting eyes added.
Tracks now glued to base of road wheels.
Shackles and tow rope made and some resin stowage from Millicast added.
A wee bit to go yet. _________________ Roger. |

Now finished apart for some more decals for the Sherman which I am awaiting the arrival of.
The carpet monster got the hull gunner`s hatch so I had to set to and make a new one out of plastic card.
I`m sure there could be more detailing done to a basic kit but I have not yet found any references on LCMs.
The tank in the LCM but I believe that RN LCMs never carried tanks.
Will post some more when I have the decals finished. _________________ Roger. |
