I've already signed up for more group builds than I seem to be able to cope with but if I were to do this one my thoughts were to do the Lusitania as a conversion.   Allowable?  A liner that perhaps brought America into the war.

Paul

(And I'd have to source a copy of the Mauretania kit - is it still available?)

Hi Paul

Well mine will need some conversion work to add the Helli pads etc so I dont see a problem with converting Mauretania to Lusitania, from what I can remember the main difference is with her ventilators she didnt have the mushroom vents like Mauretania, instead she had small fan units mounted on to the top deck.  Still plenty of research material out there.

As for allowing you on with the conversion, I would say go for it!!! However I will take advice from Ratch and Dave on that one, bearing in mind that she will be based on the Airfix Mauretania Kit.

As for availabliity she comes up regularly on Ebay and not for silly money either

Go on then Paul, will go halves with you, another QE2 may come in handy if I decide to make her as built at a later date.

If you get it, let me know the cost etc and your address and I will send a cheque for half as well as the postage to me.

Hows that sound ?

I didn't get them - forgot the end time, caught it with a few seconds to go and then my net connection hung

Oh well.   There's another one ending in a few days time - older boxing though so I expect it'll get bid up by collectors.  Hopefully not to the £40 BuyItNow price for a red stripe boxing in an Ebay shop!
