I've just finished this one -eventually! I got a bit bogged down doing all the aircraft but I think it was worth it in the end.
Some of the aircraft 'before and after' pictures appeared on the Airfix site so I thought I'd include them here too.
Hope you like it...

It was built out of box apart from the only extra which was the towbar on the Skywarrior with the folded wings.

Well done, BAC.

You must have got some eye-strain after all that aircraft detailing!

Yup, just a little bit! I did have to keep looking out of the window and focus on the house over the road.

Supeyb BAC! Those before and after shots look brilliant! You must have got through a lo of coacktail sticks doing all that detailing! Worth the time and effort, it really does look good!

"Holy thread resurrection, Batman!"

They are good though - don't remember seeing this first time around. Very, very impressive for someone who normally builds civil airliners!

I have this in the stash, I think I'll wait for a really rainy day before I build it though!

Only the red/yellow stripes around the lifts come as decals all the other lines are painted. Knowing Brian, he probably painted the lift decals too!

Just received my box of this today, can't wait to get building. I placed the flight deck next to my HMS victorious and it absolutely dwarfs her. I hope my attempt comes out half as good as this example.

Nicely done Forrestal :clapping:
It looks like a slightly better detailed Revell Forrestal class CVA
Nice work on the Air Group :clapping:
Why the different CVG tail codes on the aircraft? The 'I' and the 'T' are CVG from the late 50's, 'AJ' from 1958 to 1966 belonging to CVG-8 (later CVW-8).

Thanks FAAMAN.
Regarding the tail codes I put that down to ignorance :)

Ignorance? You did very well with the poor mix of aircraft Airfix gave you. :notworthy: Why they didn't give you F-4s, A-4s, and RF-8s also has me baffled
Gotta say the work on your A-3s is wonderful, I know they're not 100% correct but they look great regardless!! :clapping:
I think Starfighter decals makes appropriate markings etc in a few scales, maybe the decals for Revell carriers would suit a 1/600 CVA if a little care was used  8-)

Excellent Forrestal Tom. I don´t usually see you build ships. Are you planning on building a fleet? :boat:

No, the three ships I built last year for SMW. I won't be building any more till we need to fill display gaps.
