Hi all.
Here is a pic of my Airfix Lifeboat.

Image

Hope you like it, not an easy kit to build, spent a lot of time on the interior but you can not see much of it.
Hope to build the old frog Oakley class Lifeboat later in the year.
Cheers
Jeff, the Fiestyfox.

Hi Rich
Nice pics, nice detailing with the ropes etc, never got round to doing mine.
Did you make the name plate yourself.
Jeff

Yes, I printed the nameplate on white decal paper. The ships names were left off the decal sheet at the request of the RNLI.

The lifeboat model can be built full hull (as in my build posted above), or with just the part showing above the waterline - if you wish to mount it on a water base, as in the build in the first post. This is entirely up to the builder, hence the question marks in the instructions.

If you wish to waterline the hull there is an excellent guide here;
viewtopic.php?t=10432

If you want to build full hull, no scoring etc is necessary.

My very humble offering. Long in the build stage as this kit pushed my patience to the limit, and perhaps has destroyed some of my soul. It has stood untouched for months at various stages of construction whilst I recovered the will to carry on with it. At one stage I tried a "one part a day" strategy, but even that failed  :(

This is a very fiddly kit to build and I think I started it too early after my return to the hobby (only the 3rd kit I attempted). A nightmare to paint and nightmare to put together given all the fiddly railings and small bits and bobs you need to attach. To top it all, just as the final decals were being applied, I broke one of the antenna and had to scratch one up out of stretched sprue and it shows big time :hithead:

Here is my RN version of the Lifeboat. Built OOB with a RN-style colour scheme. I have left off the starboard side to show the interior:

Here it is alongside an almost-completed original RNLI version:
