I have bought my Devastator today from my local modelzone. I shall be hunting for some third party decals as a reviewer for SAM has stated that the decals in this this re-boxing are unusable and on hornby's track record so far who's to say he's wrong.

Hannants are a bit short of TBD decals at the moment and it seems all other than pre-war schemes are out of stock. However, after a bit of a search I found this company http://www.starfighter-decals.com/ which does some interesting looking decals for the TBD, as well as stocking White Ensign PE frets. I've ordered the 'TBD Devastators in War Paint' sheet. Hope they get here before too long!

I ordered my Techmod decal sheet from Aeroclub along with some white metal parts for a Buccaneer for the FAA group build.

One of the Techmod sheets is still available, but the other (with the wartime options) doesn't seem to be (as of yesterday anyway). Not sure what other people's experience of Techmod is, but the last time I used them they wouldn't settle down very well. Worth it for the various colour options they produce though.

Great decals you have got there.

I built the Devastator about 35 years ago, when I was a kid.
I was really taken away by the colourful markings and the opportunity to make torpedo attacks on my ships.
It had a rough time with many hard landings in the kitchen sink.

Have a happy construction time.

I have assembled the wings and painted a bit of Hu53 where needed.
I will do a bit of cockpit painting tonight and then break for Christmas.

The cockpit various other bits were assembled last night and some sprue painting finished off.

The state of my progress so far.

I had to take the gun and mounting ring out to fit the gunner and this will be refitted as soon as.
The paint is all humbrol acrylics which is why the finish is a bit less shiny than other builds.
