This model comes as a single piece moulded in white resin. The red box carries a painting guide on the reverse, one Flying Hour and Airfix Club contact details. There is no additional paperwork inside the box. The moulding is protected with polystyrene foam blocks; a square packing the interior of the building and suitably hollowed protection in the form of two halves for the exterior, all inside a polybag. The resin is moulded in China with well-defined brick/stonework and roof tiles in the Gothic Revival style. The interior is plain and would benefit from some sort of detailing such as broken columns, memorial plaques and other ecclesiastical furniture, maybe filled with debris from the bomb/shell damage. The western entrance has eight blind lancets, which may be left ‘closed’ or opened up with a pin vice and files. The stringcourses are well defined but there is no guttering evident. The major lancets are opened, but may be enhanced by the addition of tracery.

As this is a complete model, with no build element, I shall record my painting here

Firstly, the unpainted moulding

An overall brushing of 71 for the mortar

The rooftiles are in 31 and the stonework in various (un-numbered) greys

Interior walls are 34, exterior individual stones picked out and 33 added to the greys and dry brushed

More to come
