There will be no Airfix 2016 catalogue, the new range listing is in the 2016 Yearbook. This is more than just a catalogue with history, features, advice, build articles, reference material as well as the range listing - RRP £7.99

On pages 78-9 of the Yearbook is an advert for Airfix Battles - the Introductory Wargame in association with Modiphius
http://www.modiphius.com/
In the Yearbook this is printed as http://www.modiphius.com/airfix (sic) but that doesn't work.
The Introductory Set is scheduled for spring with a Collectors' Rulebook scheduled for summer.

Ratch - what period? WWII? Can't find any news on their web site about it.

No mentions of any additions to the Club Kits in the Yearbook, there must surely be something, otherwise there's zero incentive to sign up to the club next year for the voucher, if you've already got all that you want... The current range isn't listed either, even in the Airfix Club two-page spread.

How long has it been since Airfix did not issue a catalogue?

So. This is more of an expanded catalogue?

1981 :geek: A few hit the Toy Fairs but Palitoy didn't make them generally available, hence their high price on ebay

Hi the link is live now, we didn't realise the yearbook was out so early but thanks for the plug :-)

Happy to answer any questions about Airfix Battles- it's been a passion for a long time to create an introductory wargame, and being able to do it with my childhood favourite soldiers is amazing!

I'm sorry if someone has already posted this - I couldn't find it so please delete, mods, if it's already been covered.

Has anyone come across this? I can't find any mention of it on Airfix's website and apart from this page I've never heard anything about it. People especially interested in WWII may be interested. It looks good, but I'd have no-one to play it with.

If anyone's interested, it seems Airfix are issuing a 2016 catalogue in addition to the yearbook - it's in the form of an A5 booklet and still includes the humbrol product range too! :)

The place where I work has a model shop - they got delivered today! We've recently had a thing for getting deliveries of certain items a couple of days before they're announced (corgi James Bond thunderball cars, hornby new era wagons etc) so I imagine the information will appear on the airfix website soon, plus hopefully in more shops around the country :)

I consider that to be very good news. I am not hugely impressed with the Yearbook and I really miss flicking through the catalogue. Airfix were right to try something different, but next year I really want a traditional A4 Catalogue.

Agreed, I'd like one as well. Perhaps Admin could open a Poll for a proper catalogue next year

I haven't heard that yet. However, I did send an email to my contacts at Airfix about the new Yearbook for which I had produced an article.

In the email, I suggested that the catalogue part of the Yearbook was perhaps not wholly successful. I suggested that Airfix could release a separate A5 or A4 folded leaflet (like the ones in the late 60s/early 70s) listing the 2016 range. This could be updated later in 2016, relatively cheaply. If it was issued in January, it wouldn't affect sales of the Yearbook.

I have not had a reply yet. At Telford I don't think Airfix was contemplating a separate catalogue/leaflet. Whether my email had any influence, or the marketing guys had come to a similar conclusion following their first view of the Yearbook at Telford, I cannot say. I suspect they've had a lot of feedback.

It would be nice to see a colourful leaflet again with the occasional "available later" bits added in!
