I will be building at least one Morris CDSW with a 40mm Bofors ready to travel.  If I can get one and time allows, I may well also have a go at an SdKfz.7 & 88mm FLAK.

For what it's worth & all the best

Cheers JaNey, that is just the job!

Thanks to stuzzar's generosity and JaNey's detective work there has been a slight change of plan.....I shall now be building:

A deployed 88, possibly in an emplacement of some kind.**
A Panzer Pionier section with/aboard an SdKfz.7.
A deployed Bofors, possibly in an emplacement of some kind.**
A Morris CDSW towing a Bofors, possibly with a tarp covering the gun.

As a result I am absolutely certain to overrun the deadline on this one!

I shall probably be starting with the SdKfz.7 as I want another crack at those Airfix tracks.....My opponents in this kit are of the shiny silver variety!  Nailbiting

For what it's worth & all the best
**These two may have to share an emplacement between them for a while!

I started the SdKfz.7 as per the instructions and immediately encountered a snag.....It looks as though the top and bottom parts of the main chassis mould were out of aligment producing a step at the sides where there should be a smooth face, with the defect reversed on opposite sides.

I have just begun the process of correcting the problem on the better of the two sides (overhanging detail) in this picture:

If the correction is not made there is a good chance that the chassis would be out of true and the suspension would wind up with negative camber on one side and positive on the other.....Great for Indy cars, but not so good on a halftrack!.

However as a result of making the correction the chassis may now be marginally too narrow for the body.....We shall soon see!

For what it's worth & all the best

Well, I am now utterly surrounded by a bewildering variety of subassemblies.....Piccys soonish!

Thanks to Spudgun's generosity I will now probably not be building an emplaced Bofors at this time.....I may however be building one that is ready to fire from its gun-carriage.

All the best

Here is where I am at with the SdKfz.7 & 88 at present:

There are four subassemblies dry-fitted together for the above photo.

Two Steps Forward.....One step back!
Well it's far from perfect, but at least some progress is being made.....Some bits are ready for painting!

I've made a bit of a pig's ear of building the bonnet of the SdKfz.7, but it will just have to do, so I've undercoated the bodywork using the same, much too pale, Hu27 that I used on my Pz IV Ausf D.....I might as well be consistently wrong!

The pin mounting the 88 on its gun carriage is much too short, so I've replaced it with a longer steel version.  To give the weapon some more stability I have disassembled the gun carriage and packed it with putty.....A new hole will be drilled once everything has had plenty of time to harden.

I also had a bit of a catastrophe with a can of Hu93 while undercoating another model.....However, I noticed that the spray, while far from ideal for a vehicle undercoat, produced an interesting textured effect so I used it to spray the SdKfz.7's canvas tilt.....Waste not, want not!

For what it's worth & all the best

Thinking back to the last time I built the half track, I don't think it's possible to assemble the bonnet neatly

The chassis offset seems to be a new feature though....

TBH Peter, I wasn't aware that I'd paid any, but cheers for the compliments guys!

This one is strictly out of the box.....Anyway the 88 is rebuilt and much more  strudy and stable.  It too has been sprayed with Hu27 as a base coat.  The more I use it, the more I'm starting to like the idea of the colour for heavily faded Panzergrau, but I suspect that this will only last until I actually try to darken it up and shade it.

Pictures soon, camera batteries are flat again.

All the best

The dread moment is arrived.....
It's time for me to fit the tracks.....The tracked running gear has suffered a bit over the years and the fit of the parts is none too good, with the paired 'external' wheels not meeting up at all on my model.

I have given the road-wheels a quick coat of liquid poly to hide any flash that I missed and to bond the whole lot together as a solid and unbreakable lump.....Hopefully!

Wish me luck.....They're going on!  Nailbiting

All the best

Limited Success
The tracks are on and (Touch Wood! ) seem to be stuck down quite well at all the proper contact points, I certainly had to use quite a lot of CA and Accellerator to get them there:

The tracks were a little bit short and very hard to clean up, but the seams should be easy enough to hide with a bit of Tamiya's tank lipstick!

All of the subassemblies are now undercoated and ready for painting, before the final assembly process begins.  One bit is actually completely finished.....The canvas tilt!

The tilt has received two filters, the first of heavily thinned Tamiya XF-49 Khaki, which was a bit too pale, and the second of XF-51 Khaki Drab which was just right.  The filters were alternated with dry-brushing in a progressively paler mixture of Hu93 Desert Yellow and Hu103 Cream.

For what it's worth & all the best

That's looking nice Andy. Out of interest, do you use an Airbrush or Hairy stick to paint? You seem to get a very nice finish

Cheers Guys!  Cheers!

Right now I am using rattle-cans and the 'hairy-stick' because my airbrushing setup is still in bits.

The grey in the pictures of the kit is Hu27 acrylic from a rattle-can and the black undercoat is GW (BooHiss! ) Chaos Black which is actually dead good value.....Despite being made by Satan in Hell!

I use a black undercoat, simply to ensure that all of the plastic is well covered up.....If I miss a bit with the subsequent paint, at worst it should look like a shadowed area or paint chipping.

All the best

Quite a few airbrushes there I make do with a few cans of GW and Humbrol cans and a Revell cheap £30 airbrush.
