Made a start with the cockpit assembly and clean up of pilot figures. I will be doing little bits on this alongside my battle with the B17 over on the Heavy Bomber build.
This is another Airfix kit that I haven’t built since I was a youngster, it seems to be quite a nice model, the detail is much finer than I remember and I thought that the crew figures just sat on pegs jutting from the inside of the fuselage, but it is a very long time since I built one .
Cheers
Stu

Made great progress on this last night while I was waiting for the filler on the B17 to dry
The internal areas were painted as were the crew figures. Side glazing was added without problem and all of the internal details were put in place, although I did forget to add the instrument panel decal but I doubt that this would be visible anyway.
The undercarriage elements have also been put together and now await a coat of paint.
This is going much smoother than the B17 build and I can see why Rich enjoys building them so much, it is a rather nice little kit.
Cheers
Stu

Got quite a bit done last night, the wheel assemblies were painted and then the wings were assembled and attached to the body, little or no problem with fit. Tail planes are also on so it is now looking like an aircraft.
Did a little trimming to the area where the main cockpit glazing sits, this gives a snugger fit all round to the clear part although I have yet to attach it as I may mask it first.
Not much more to do before main painting begins.
Cheers

Seems a shame to me that those crew figures are stuck in there where no-one can see the fantastic work you've put in to them! _________________ Bubbly! |

Thanks hewman, I do get a little carried away sometimes on the crew figures
As stated, got the first coats of camouflage colours on last night, will give a second coating tonight.
Cheers

Painting of upper surfaces as well as the underside is now complete.
I have spent a fair amount of time masking the main cockpit canopy and the gun turret, I wish now that I had masked the side windows, had a go at painting them free hand and made a bit of a dogs dinner of it
Certainly will not be finished today (the deadline) but will not be too far off.
Cheers

Thanks Peter, I don't usually bother masking but the Anson has such involved framework and there is little by way of guidance on the actual part so I thought that I had better give it a try. Found it quite relaxing in a strange sort of way so also masked out the framework on the B17.

Have almost done with this build now, gave it a couple of coats of Klear and added the decals. Had a little problem with the serial numbers, the decals were so thin that they folded into themselves as soon as they came off of the backing sheet, try as I might I could not get them to unfold again so this will have to fly serial less until I can get some replacements.
All of the usually easy to snap off bits such as aerials and guns have now been added, it just remains to give it a couple of coats of matt varnish and remove the masking and it will be done.
Cheers

Finished this off last night, gave it several coats of matt varnish and then removed all of the masking and put the last three pieces of glazing in place, the two panels in the top section and one in the underside of the nose.
All together quite an enjoyable build of a very nice kit. I did rush this build at the begining and wish now that I had taken more time but I am quite happy with the result.
I will certainly be building another and will use Richard's (and others) build articles as guidance to hopefully improve on this effort.
From these angles you can't even see that the serials are missing
Another Group Build finished Back to work on the B17, Dapol, Single figure, Amphibious Warfare and E-Boat builds
Cheers

Lovely finish, very nice work on the framing. I've got plenty of spare serials, if you want some drop me a pm with your address and I'll send them to you.
