This one's from SMER tooling IIRC? It'll be interesting to see how it builds up. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Looks like a good one, will you be doing the scheme on the box? _________________ Cheers

This is a departure from my usual German WW2 builds.
I bought/won this kit on Ebay a few months back. A bargain at A$11.50.
If it wasn't for this Group build, it would still be gathering dust in the spare room.

I was wondering why it had SMER on the sprue, and NOT Airfix.

No, I'm doing the USSR version (silver), the one on the box is the Vietnamese Version.
The kit itself looks pretty good, relatively free flash free, I guess the proof is in the building, which if I finish by the Group build end date (31 Dec) it'll be my quickest build since returning to modelling. _________________ Our technology is compatiable; although your design is less elegant. |

And not to mention, a lot easier to paint with a hairy stick.
Which of course had no bearing on my decision at all. _________________ Our technology is compatiable; although your design is less elegant. |

It's a nice kit, very similar in style to the MiG-21 and Su-7 put out many years ago by a company called OEZ and reboxed by ESCI and Revell, among others.
I don't have a copy to hand but there was an excellent article on building this kit in Finescale Modeler some years ago.

Easy to do SILVER with a brush??
You are bold and fearless, my friend.
I always use a brush; and silver, white and yellow are the worst troublemakers I have ever known.
Lovely kit by the way. If I ever see one, I will be really tempted to add it to my stash.
All the best from Jesper. |

Excellent choice of kit - I'm still in the process of doing this is Egyptian markings. I like it. _________________ the evolution of the modern car is such it now ressembles a toaster. |

Bold and Fearless, that comes from my not knowing any better.
I know all about the joys of painting white & yellow & I heard silver was tricky as well, but after painting the jet inlet & outlet with (MM enamel) chrome silver, I'm pleasantly suprised with the result. Actually it went on better than any other color I've used.

I must admit, I was impressed with the kit the moment I opened the box.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for these on Evil-Bay. _________________ Our technology is compatiable; although your design is less elegant. |

Did you ever wonder why it came with 2 tail fins? _________________ the evolution of the modern car is such it now ressembles a toaster. |

I did. I was assuming one of the tail fins was for Lim-6 bis version. But not sure which one.
Have been searching the net for info but haven't found anything that helps. Are you able to shed any light on the matter? _________________ Our technology is compatiable; although your design is less elegant.

The one without the brake chute fairing is the one you need, IIRC

The Cockpit:
I should have taken pics before I put in the seat. It hides a fair bit of the cockpit detail. _________________ Our technology is compatiable; although your design is less elegant. |

Ayup Stukaman...
Top stuff !
Very brisk and busy !
You know this is what gets me about Airfix kits. Even the 'lesser' kits have SOME feature that makes it worth building. even if only building OOB.
And if you take a bit of extra time, and maybe a bit of plasticard and sprue, well, it turns into something special...
But in the end, Everythings what you make it I guess... _________________ Airfix Member 022... Jolly Boy.
