Hi Folks

Welcome to the Airfix Concorde Group Build of which I am Group Build Leader. The build starts on 15th May and ends on 15th July.

This is the "Chat" thread for the GB, any reference material should be posted in the "Reference" thread.

The only rule for this Group Build is that it has to be based on an Airfix Concorde, apart from that, any scale, any scheme, real or imaginary is welcome.

If you would like to take part in the Group Build and haven't already signed up you must do so using the Usergroups link at the top of the screen (above the Log in/Log out link).

Important: You should not sign up as participant of a Group Build if you only want to view the threads, they will be available for all to see.

To take part in the Group Build:

Click on "Usergroups"

In the "Join a Group" section, select "Group Build - Airfix Concorde"

Click "View Information"

Click on "Join Group".

Once your membership of the Usergroup is confirmed, you will be given your own thread in the Airfix Concorde Group Build Forum to post details of your build.

That's all there is to it!

Anyone got a spare bedroom to put it in.....

This is a GB I've been waiting for! I've signed up and just waiting for the go ahead. (Colin let me in!!)

I bought two sets of prototype F-Dcal declas from Telford '07 and this is a good time to use them. The first set was for the French prototype then realised my mistake so bought a set for G-BSST too. I do have two Airfix 'prototype' Concordes so will do at least one of them. I also have a 1990's boxing and will probably also do the latest scheme too -if there's time.

Serves you right for walking around the Milton Keynes show with a Concorde under your arm!

There were only 20 airframes ever made, how about we try and get one of each in the GB?

That sounds pretty good to me, the kit decals could work with that scheme with a crown or two thrown in.

It would be nice to get the complete set though.

Anyone got a Concorde in their stash that they don't want to build?

Halfords rattle cans work well too.

My TSR2 was done in Halfords Appliance White. I found out the hard way that a light dusting repeated several times was better than flooding the kit in an attempt to cover everything in one go.

A tip from Dan works too, put a coat of grey primer (Halfords do a rattle can plastic primer) on first, it helps you gauge how much white you are spraying.

Spraying is out in my flat, otherwise I might give it a go.

Having said that, I have bought some acrylic sprays with the intention of trying to spray over the bath - if it goes wrong, I can just wash it off the walls/bath/windows/me

Hi Adrian

Which acrylic sprays have you got? I use the Humbrol Acrylic rattle cans and like the paint but I only use them with a proper spray mask (Halfords do a good one for about £27), be very carefull otherwise if you value your lungs.

The paint may be acrylic and washable but the mist carries everywhere. I spray in my utility/conservatory room with all of the doors and windows open. Even with an extractor fan and a big open window I wouldn't use them indoors, the propellant is very smelly and toxic.

An airbrush and diluted acrylics should be OK though, preferably with a compressor rather than air cans.

Just wondered if everyone has decided what scheme they are finishing their Conky in.....will do the Landor scheme (red cheatline , blue tail ) if thats OK with others

Please use whichever scheme you like the look of.

Whilst it would be nice to get a representation of all of the options that flew it is more important that you (and Mrs DH764) are happy with the one that is going to be sitting on your, very large, shelf!
