I'll be building two kits side by side for this GB. First is the White Half-track M3A1 (A02318), second is the Bren Gun Carrier & 6pdr A/T gun (A01309). Feel like a change from aircraft which I've been building all year!

That's one small model!    (Decals are under the instructions)

Good luck with your builds, Badwolf.

I have some 6pdr photos I'll soon post in the reference section. Are you planning any tweaks, or are you going to stay close to out of the box?

I have some diagrams of the insides of the M3 H/T if you are interested.

Bombs away!

If you want to build an accurate M3 you will need to modify the interior of the Airfix kit quite significantly.

For what it's worth, all the best

Thanks for the comments guys, I've been giving some thought as to how I want to complete these builds.

The Bren carrier & 6pdr I'll build OOB, as the mould is worn out it will take quite a bit of work just to assemble it.

The M3 halftrack I plan to add some simple detail like the seats in the back as it's basically empty. I may add a few figures if I can find any that I like.

If you want to build an accurate M3 you will need to alter the front mud guards too, however those are spot on for M5 half tracks which were the version supplied to British forces and with a scratch built interior and a bit of rounding off on the rear corners it's possible to make a pretty good M5 without too much effort.

Anyway, enjoy it however you decide to build it!

Thanks for the comment about the mudguards, Dangerbod, I hadn't spotted that.    I've been looking at some online pics, must try and remember to post some links in the reference section. First I have to find the pics again!

This week I've been assembling the Bren carrier & 6pdr.

I've left the track units off to make painting easier.

Dear Badwolf
Nice looking build so far!Good clean work on a pretty little Airfix 1960s gem. When I've modelled the carrier I've clipped off the locating pins and allowed the chassis to rest on the track assemblies. If you use the locating pins I'd love to know your secret.

Best of luck with the rest of your build.

Thanks for the kind words James. Yes I'm using the locating pins for the tracks, I enlarged the locating holes in the chassis by drilling them out with a 2mm bit in a pin chuck (very carefully so as to avoid splitting any joints).

I've painted the track units and glued them in place. The lower hull and running gear are Hu86 and the tracks are Hu113 with some Hu24 added. Highlights were done with a silver pencil.

The carrier and the 6pdr have been given 2 coats of Hu86 and the tyres Hu67.

The mould may be a bit long in the tooth, but you have made a handsome little model out of it. The 67 is a good choice for the tyres.

Best of luck with the half-track now.

Thanks for the kind comments Stu & James.  Cheers!

I've kleared the bodywork of the carrier and the outer areas of the gun shield in readiness for the decals.

I've glossed the model with klear, applied the decals and sealed them with another coat of klear.

Had a little mishap here, the 'Hindustan' decal split apart while I was adjusting it's position.
