Ok, half an hour of stash excavation...

'Hello my name is Paul and I'm an...'

I'm pretty sure there's some stuff I haven't found too

So the City of Truro has been kiboshed for being the wrong side of Airfix ownership...

The Prestwin silo wagon and BP tank wagon are also out - I only photographed the boxes because they're so lovely.  If you like that sort of thing, but I suspect some of you lot do.  They were part of a job lot of wagon kits of Ebay, with the Prestwin being the main reason for bidding.  Sadly the Prestwin box contained nothing but several sets of unused wheels and empty orange sprues.  The tank wagon box contained a built-up, non-Airfix wagon of unknown provenance.

Therefore, I will build the Pug and as that's a bit minimal (though bearing in mind the speed I build at...), I'll make the water tower, platelayers' huts and perhaps the surviving wagons.  If it's permissible, I might also finish the signal box.

Sprue shots in the meantime:

0-4-0 Pug

Water tower

Lineside accessories

And the signal box

Ahem.

You might notice that some parts have become... detached from their sprues here...

I have dispensation.

It's a shake & bake kit, honest.

And we're off!

Loco body together and the horrible ledges that pass for hand rails carved off:

Looks about ready for the cutter's torch doesn't it?

The huts etc were dead simple to put together:

I'm sure I recall the old Airfix instructions telling you to save the staples from the bag and use them to hang the loading gauge arm.  The Dapol instructions don't, but I did anyway:

And here's everything glued together:

I've also done a bit on the signal box, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to show any of this...

Ayup Paul...

The Saddle Tank sure does look ready for the torch !

That sounds like a little job for MIG Pigments Rust, etc. (Hearinafter known now as MIG PIGS...)  and then collect a first place at the IPMS Competition in November!

Nice Hanger from the Staples too !

Some gems amongst that collection there.  The Saddle Tank Loco brings back fond memories. Lovely progress on those builds.

A bit more progress after two weeks or so of not being able to touch the plastic stuff!

Boiler primed and cleaned up a bit more, then stuck to running plate/buffer beams and the bulk of the cab stuck on, plus the cab handrails replaced with wire:

Planning ahead, I bought these off Ebay a month or two back: tiny handrail knobs to replace the shelving that had been hacked off the boiler:  (the grid squares are 1 cm).

Holes drilled in boiler then using brass wire to align the knobs as the superglue dries:

And here's where it stand right now:  they're a little overscale perhaps?  But better than the kit representation I think.

Ta!

Ratch - you'll know the answer to this I'm sure - what colour would the cab interior have been?

Cheers

Fea - I think there are multiple sources.  For instance, plugging 'handrail knobs' into the Ebay search engine brings up several options.

Update time.

This was the state of play this morning - just about all assembly done for the huts bar the window glazing and the base painting carried out.  The pug has been undercoated then sprayed with Hu85, then dusted underneath with dark earth to weather it up a bit.   The cab has been painted cream inside (as per the colour of a preserved example) and the window frames have been done in a bright brass colour with a paint pen.

As of now, detail painting on the pug is underway, and the sheds have been glazed:
