I'll be building the 1/72 Fw190D-9 (01064) for this GB.

Preliminary photos...

Box

Instructions

Sprues

Decals

The best place for these decals is file 13 I think. I'll have a look in the spare decals box sometime this week, I think there's something I can use in there.

I'm planning to start this build later this week or the weekend, I'd like to get my 3rd Anniversary GB finished first.

Finally started this one! I've put a couple of coats of Hu67 on the cockpit area and glued the fuselage together. I've also assembled the wings, then sanded the seams smooth.

Found some decals from a previous build of this kit in the spare decals box, they look like they're still usable.

The only thing missing is the swastika tail markings, not a problem as I have a whole sheet of them in various sizes made by Superscale.

I've added the gun cover/top cowling part yesterday, then filled the gaps with milliput after the glue had dried.

You needn't worry about sloppy-fitting parts on Fw 190s. The real deals had sloppy-fitting panels, with wear and tear. Many Fw 190Ds weren't new-builds, but were re-builds of tired A8s. It complicates things if you go through the exercise of trying to work out how many Fw 190s were produced.

Thanks for the info Brews, I didn't know that about the badly fitting panels.

Basic assembly is done, time to break out the paint.

Looks good. The parts seem to be a better fit than my Dora.

Thanks Thomas, I did have to do a little fettling of the wing/fuselage joint before gluing the parts together, but the kit did fit reasonably well.

Today I've applied an undercoat of Hu64.

I've put the first coat of homebrew RLM76 (2 parts Hu28 to 1 part Hu65) on today.

I've got the light green on now. I used Hu80 instead of Hu78, not sure if it's correct but Humbrol don't do RLM colours. I also plan to replace Hu27 with Hu102 in the hope of producing something vaguely resembling an RLM76/82/83 scheme. The colours I've picked may involve a bit of artistic licence.

The matches I have are
RLM 82 = Hu: 2 or Hu: 80
RLM 83 = Hu: 30 or Hu: 163

Thanks Ratch and Tim, I tried out test patches of Hu30 and Hu102 this evening, I'll check them out after drying overnight although I think Hu30 looks better for the dark green at the moment.
