thanks thomas!
after seeing this kit around this group build i just had to have one! so after a weekend on ebay this arrived today.
i really like the artwork on the box, and the "red stripe" 190 looks so cool
and to make sure i actually build it i'm joining in with this gb!

ok i've been beavering away on this kit, and what a nice kit it is!
heres the parts layout, plus a bit of interior painted-
once i got hans looking ok i could get on with the rest of the build
recorded for posterity!
and this where i am now, at the fill, prime, paint, stage. the cowl ring is only lightly stuck on, so i can paint it with the rest of the kit, pop it off, then put the propellor and fan on. _________________ tom servo-

hi thomas! there is some progress, though my building and posting has been a bit patchy due to work then ironicly a holiday!
i'm now at the fun part, ie painting, ive done the nose stripe and rudder in h 174, masked them and begun spraying rlm 63 on the undersides and up the fusalage sides-

oops! It seems that the rlm 63 should only be on the fusalage sides the under surface colour is actually light blue 65! I can't tell one dot pattern from another _________________ tom servo-

I did that with my 1/48 build. I just used it as a good undercoat |

yeah, as i post i've just 65'ed the underside, it also seems i need to use 63 as one of the upper colours! not the end of the world though, however i better get my skates on with this! _________________ tom servo-

ok getting there now! its beginning to look like the pic on the box
its a trick of the light that the tail and nose bands look a strange cherry colour instead of the dull red it actually is. _________________ tom servo-

oh dear. I have got the transfers on,and was hoping to finish this yesterday, due to the fact i'm away now and won't be back home until after this gb ends, best laid plans and all that! I have to say that the 30 odd year old decals went on like a charm, after spending a month stuck in a window to sort out some yellowing _________________ tom servo-

ok i'm back!
spent yesterday getting the u/c on, the prop and spinner mounted and put some gun barrels in that i made from fine brass tube
unlike the rest of the transfers the wing crosses are giving me some gyp!
this shows the brass tubing, unlike the kit part i made it long enough to run through the wheel wells

thanks everybody! she's now flat coated and officially finished!
i'm pretty chuffed with the fact that i used H174 instead of H19 as suggested by the instructions because it is a dead ringer for the red on the transfers and ties them together nicely.
i enjoyed being part of this gb, just a shame a pesky holidy got in the way of me bringing this in on time
