For this build I'm going to build the "E" version for two reasons:
1: the E version the bomber variant and the F version was mainly for photo recon (according to the blurb in the destructions.
2: the E version looks prettier and has more guns.

Anyway here's the obligitary starting shots:

First impressions are excellent. Again no flash which is very impressive since the original mould is from 1971. My only concern is with the decals. Some people have reported problems with the new decals on this brown backing paper, so as a precaution I will treat them with micro scale's liquid decal film to try and prevent any problems.

Yeah I have started. Painted the pilots and interior and cemented the wing halves together.
I've had a bit of modeller's block plus I went to London over the weekend and I'm goin to be in hospital tomorrow and Friday.
I'll make a start again at the weekend and take some pics.

Well I've filled and sanded the gaps between the wing - fuselage join, but all did not go smoothly.
I've pretty much had enough of this kit but I refuse to give up on any kit, so I thought i could rush it.
In doing so I decided to use Humbrol filler without masking the joins first. This resulted in me getting filler all over the place and having to spend ages sanding. the end result isnt pretty but it's better than it was before so it'll have to do.
I've just attatched the engines/gear assembly to the wings. Since I've seen some people get excellent results using Milliput I decided to use this to fill the gaps in this join with pleasing results.
I'm going to let this dry overnight then sand and prime the whole model tomorrow and I'll post a pic.

(Anyone else had problems building this kit or is it just me trying to rush the job?)

Paul,

You might want to consider investing in some Gunze 'Mr Surfacer'.....It is a liquid (airbrushable even) putty that is great for hiding these sorts of surface damage issues.

Here's where we're at, at the end of today. Whole model has been given a coat of Hu1 (primer).
No more progress until Saturday at the earliest as it's time for my ECP treatment again on Thursday and Friday.

Thanks guys. A layer of Humbrol pirimer, which is a bit thicker than the rest of the enamel range I believe, seems to have concealed many of the floors. It's still not as good as I would have liked but it's looking better than I thought it would.

After just one coat of Hu64 (Light Grey) it's looking even better:

I'll give it another coat later on tonight, just to touch up any areas that were missed first time round.

Today I've masked off the areas to be painted in Hu29 (Dark Earth), and given the first coat.
I'll give it a second coat tomorrow and post some pices on Wednesday when the tape comes off.

NOTE: I'm just following the painting guide in the destructions, so some of the colours I use may not be 100% accurate, but I only have Humbrol enamels (except for three tins of extracolours) and I can't afford to buy anymore.
