I'll start off with some photos of the kit, it doesn't state year of manufacture anywhere on the box, but does say 'Made in France' so I'd guess 2007.
Box
Instructions
Decals
Parts (including the obligatory one or two that came loose during transit!)

Assembly has commenced! I spent some time on Monday and Tuesday filling sink holes on the central spar, cleaning up mould lines and flash on the main parts of the bomb bay, and glued them up today.
I've also removed the wing parts from the sprue and test fitted them...
Lock S-foils in attack position! I didn't know the Rebel Alliance operated B-26's!! _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

The wings have now been glued and clamped until the glue has thoroughly dried.

I think this kit is the best one Airfix has ever made. Its really really cheap as well! _________________ Does this count as a new signature? |

I'm inclined to agree, it has a lot more detail than the majority of Airfix kits, and what I've built of this one so far has fit together well. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

I paid £9.99 for this one, but I read somewhere (wish I could remember where ) that Airfix are increasing prices. Still great value compared to £24 ish for the Hasegawa B-26 and £30+ for the Valom kits. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Some further progress has been made in the last few days...
The cockpit has been assembled less control columns and bombsight.
The crew figures have received a base coat of H94.
And finally the engine nacelles have been assembled and filler applied to the seams in the wheel wells.
I may have been premature with my comment previously about good fit of parts, there are definitely some fit issues between the nacelles and the wings! _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Just a quick update, I've sanded down the filler in the wheel wells and assembled the bombs. Next job will be gluing the nacelles to the wings once I work out the best way of doing it to minimize the amount of filler used . Also hope to start painting the interior this weekend. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Not much done today, put first coat of H86 on the bombs, and H226 on the bomb bay and cockpit. Crew figures are just about finished too. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

A bit more progress made, I've glued the nacelles to the wings, and applied filler (lots of!) to the joins.
Just visible at the top are two of the crew figures, I'll take a photo of them in due course. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Over the last couple of days I've put a second coat of H86 on the bombs and spent ages sanding down the filler on the wing/nacelle joints, applying more filler where needed and sanding that down. Next I'll start on the engines and tail surfaces.
Also I'll try to get the cockpit and bomb bay completed soon so I can install them in one half of the fuselage and start adding some weight. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Progress update; been doing some painting over the last few days.
Bombs
Crew
Bomb bay
Not the best pic ever, I'll try to take a clearer photo soon!
Cockpit
The bomb bay and cockpit have been dry brushed with a lightened shade of green to break up the monotone look, but this doesn't show very well in the pics! _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

I might be wrong Heinkel, but from reading above i get the impression it's mainly H226 with a drybrushing of a lighter green _________________ ATB

Thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated! Challenger guessed right, the interior has a base coat of H226 interior green and the dry brushing was done with H226 lightened with H24 trainer yellow. I don't know what the ratios were as I mixed it by eye, but there was definitely over 50% H24 in the mix. _________________ "It's life Jim, but not as we know it!" - Dr McCoy

Nice subject Badwolf.
It has far better details than I would have expected!
A beautiful airplane as well with clean lines and good harmony.
With kind regards from Jesper. |
