Hi all
Well I am so taken with the builds of the Bristol Blenheim that I sure I can fit one in the group build.
I managed to obtain this kit rather cheep and complete.
My intention is to build this as a Blenheim 1 useing parts from an old froggy Mk1. "Once out of the box, the plastic seemed to understand what I was going to do and gave in willingly".
Again, once put to Bently's plans from the 70's that came out of a modeling mag, the wing tips needed adjustment and I was never really happy with the extended top engine rear portion, that in fact is not even true.
I removed the Mk IV nose and re shaped wing tip.
I applied a dremel type tool at low rev's with a tri tip stone and modiefied the rea engine cover. As a side note, the rivits on the Airfix kit will stay as the real a/c had raised rivits as well.

Hi all
Dancho, I enjoy the old Frog kits also.
Assembly has begun and onto filling sanding etc and then cockpit bits and bobs and the fun part of blending canopy.

Back again
Been "pottering around" and have made the cockpit look "busy"
not to fussed about bits.

Update!!
Painting has begun in ernest..."don't think he's too happy "bout that"
Piant begun with the shooting of Hu 29 Dark Earth, followed by Hu 163 Dark Green.
This was a good paint shoot as I had never used Hu 163 before, this is a satin finish and I had always used Hu 116 flat.
I had a conflict as to paint with brush or airbrush. As my brush work is bellow parr, I went with what I knew. Mind you, I had'nt touched the airbrush for a year or more so out came the Hurricane test bed.
I am not sure about underside yet black or sky...find out what I do tommorrow

Hi all
Painting continues with the underside. Black with some drops of Hu1.
What this does is break up the stark look of black and adds a "percieved" veiw of scale.
When dry ( I put my models to dry in the hot water cubboard to dry) I will add bits to bring the monotone look of the paint scheme, to life.
Remember: Less is best.

Looking good. That "dark earth" looks like the right stuff. _________________ “Build what YOU want, the way YOU want to, and above all, have fun.”

Thanks Dancho, the dark earth id Humbrol 29 and suprise, the new paint shot rather well, about the same as the old stuff, possibly a little more "grainy" but I'll put that down to not haveing sprayed for a while so the "brew" might be at fault.

Denienz, if in future you don't want to mix something up to get a decent shade of Night I recommend a tin of Revell #9 Anthracite. _________________ Bubbly! |

Hi Hewman
Sounds like a goer.
I have never seen Revell paint here in New Zealand. Maybe the big cities stock them but the local shop only has Humbrol and Tamiya paint and them I have to pester them to replace stock. LOL

Seconded. Scale black in a tin, but tricky to apply with a hairy stick. Airbrushes beautifully when thinned with a drop of cellulose.

Tamiya's XF-69 NATO Black would be another good bet.
For what it's worth, all the best

Hi all
Thanks for the tips on scale black, I'll give the Nato Black a shot sometime.
I have altered the camo to... Have a guess as to what the marking are going to be.
