Twin engine WW2 aircraft are my passion so I've quite a few in the stash   .

I think I'll leave the Mistel for you Dan, and the Wellington sprues are pretty bad, so I'm probably going to go for the Hampden as I've just done a Luftwaffe subject - the HS.129.

The Anson can carry bombs, but even with the later increased load could only be classed as a light bomber - you know me, if I could squeeze an Anson in I would

Here's the sprue shots for the Hampden, ancient - probably older than I am!

All the bits seem to be present, the decals have yellowed a bit with age and are stuck to a window to try to correct this.

Assembled most of the main components, spent some time removing all the rivets. Painted the interior black, remembering the wing tabs as I think they will be visible from the rear gun position. I'm going to have the bomb bay closed so only the wing bombs will be on.

Assembled all the main components, no real fit issues. The wings went on pretty well, there's a slightly larger gap on the lower side which required a thin slice of plastic card.

I've masked and applied filler to all the seams and wing joins ready for going over with a sanding stick.

It's certainly an interesting looking aeroplane, I quite like the angular wing shape.

There's a harrowing account in Guy Gibson's book "Enemy Coast Ahead" of when he was on Hampdens, where a squadron was caught by fighters in daylight - they assumed a close defensive box which kept the 109's at bay.

Unfortunately a flight of 110 was there, the Hampden's had a blind spot to the side where they could not bring any guns to bear. The 110's flew up and kept formation in the blindspot, then used their rear guns (which could traverse 90 degrees to the side) to target individual Hampden pilots one by one. Bringing down most of the flight. The targetted Hampdens' could not break formation as the waiting flight of 109's pounced on them, and the pilot could not be accessed by any of the other crew. Pretty grim.

Finally got round to doing a bit more on this. I've added the tailplane, filled and sanded. Put the cowlings on and sanded down a couple of the intakes there. I've also painted the glazing surrounds on the aircraft and the canopies ready for glueing into place once all the sanding is complete.

This build has been somewhat on the back burner while I concentrate on the Gladiator and Fulmar. I have been doing some work. The canopies have been fitted bit by bit, some areas needed blending with milliput.

The forward bomb aimers and gunners glazing fitted very well, the rear lower gunners glazing was an absolute pig, hopefully it won't be too visible!

The machine guns have been epoxied in place and the barrels removed to aid masking, so I can spray primer.
