Airfix New Boxart.

Post up links and images of the the new boxart for all Airfix kits here. Please use this thread rather than posting in the new release section - which is for kits which have actually been released   .

The Chippie has a big "NEW" splash up against it, same as for the new tool Spit and Bf.109, which is a bit misleading as it only has new decals and is still the same old kit....

The new 'splash' gets applied to all new additions to the catalogue for the year, was the same last year and I think the year before too.

Newly updated boxart for the Airfix 1/72 Dogfight Double Sea Harrier FRS.1 / A-4P Skyhawk

Image

http://www.airfix.com/airfix-products/a ... 1-a50134/#

Note that the description hasn't been updated to match the boxart on their website:
"On May 21st 1982 during the Falklands War, Skyhawk 3 (A-307) was shot down by an AIM9L air-to-air missile fired by a Sea Harrier FRS.1 (XA457) of 800 Squadron."

3-A-307 was actually an Armada A-4Q. The new boxart shows that Airfix have changed the dogfight to an A-4P, so it should now read:
"On 8 June 1982 during the Falklands War, a Skyhawk (C-228) of Grupo 5 de Caza was shot down by an AIM-9L air-to-air missile fired by a Sea Harrier (ZA177) of 800 Squadron."

Reminds me of the old Roy Cross Artwork, which had Fool's Paradise IV on it.

The box art of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Shorts Tucano T.1 (A73005) has appeared on the Airfix site. Limited production run of 1000. Not in stock yet.
Those who know about these things may wish to append a picture or link. (My Grandson is out!)

Don't you hate it when you've bought a model and built it, and you're really happy with the way it came out, then Airfix go and bring out some AMAZING scheme like this?

Good idea for a thread. The current boxart is amazing. Now that Tucano might just be a photo, but I'll be looking out for that kit.

Ayup PAYF...

I'd make sure you got a Pre-order in or get to a Roadshow-attended show, LOL. It does make me wonder how many will be built though. I normally wouldn't go for this Kind of thing, but I've ordered Two, LOL !

I saw that Jubilee scheme on the RAF Tucano Team's website a couple of months ago and I though "Wow, I hope someone brings out a decal set to go with the new Airfix release".
So I was chuffed  :D to see this on the newsletter but I must say I'm a bit peeved that it's a limited run of only 1000   . I think they could have sold tons of these and my chances of getting one of the 1000 are pretty slim, especially with my experiences of the Airfix "Stock Notification" service ( pretty useless).
Still, there's GOT to be a decal set on someone's drawing board surely?

My garage is full, and models are in storage boxes under the house, so its strictly build 2 buy 1 until the collection goes down.
