As I recall, it's another Airfix rivet king and in this case, early company quirk or not, a rub with the wet and dry will probably not go amiss!

I was just asked NOT to remove the rivets on mine!
Surely, gentlemen, consistency...

You don't need to open this one , you can feel the rivets through the box. .............

Consistency - why? One man's rivet is another man's happy hours of sanding. I would recommend removing the rivets on the Belvedere as well. Do you really want it to end up looking like mine - with rivets that make it look like an outbreak of warts on a silver condom? I have tried to upload a photo of mine (Belvedere), but for some reason, the upload has failed. Probably just as well since it isn't a pretty picture.

My front door was sticking so I used the Belvedere to file about a cm off the bottom, door opens great now - still a lot of rivets left on the Belvedere though
Nice to see so many twin rotors being built, this one looks like a chopped down version - presumably to fit on a ship?
Best

Enough rivets here to start a Frog factory,Hmmmm that's an idea...
I assembled the cockpit area into the starboard side of the fusalage and fitted the air intakes into each side, piccies will follow.
As for the rivets...
Might try shaving with them... _________________ Nigel.

Do be careful with the sharp blade if removing the rivets. It would be so easy to slice off one of the rotors, leaving your machine with a permanent high pitched angle of incidence.

Progress is slow at the moment, after reading some of the previous posts i was tempted to sand the rivets off-easy.It was the thought of scribing new lines on that put me off that idea-I just knew that if I attempted rescribing the fusalage Mr Murphy would strike....
So I shall give them a light sanding only.
The cockpit floor will need some plastic card to fill the gaps,I might do a cargo bed floor. When i get the chance.. _________________ Nigel.

I have painted the fusalage inners with H102.
And fitted the side doors, here i found the same problem as Fluff75 i.e. a rather large gap between the starboard side upper and lower doors.
The next stage will be to correct the door and to fit the side glazing. _________________ Nigel.

The fusalage is now assembled, the door gap I solved by shaving a whisker off the lower door portion (I knew those rivets would come in handy..) Then I fitted a bit of plastic card and trimmed it flush.
The fusalage has recieved two coats of H30 green, the cockpit canopy has been dipped in Klear.
The rotors have been assembled too.

I have made some more progress on my Vertol today,I was a bit daunted about masking and painting the orange panels,it seems to have gone well enough though,so far I have brushed two coats of H82 and I think one more coat will suffice.
I have fitted the cockpit canopy, there a few gaps to deal with (not too bad..) I will use white glue here.
Also I have painted some decal sheet in H30 and will attempt the cockpit framing with this..
P.S. I am not sure if the orange should be matt or gloss?
If it is gloss I can go over it.. _________________ Nigel.

Coming on nicely, as it's navy it should be gloss, unless it's due for a major service, as then it will be weather-worn and dull. _________________ Pax Britannica

Thanks,Stu,Loll and Kitnuts617.
I will probably go for a lightly used version, perhaps after the third coat I will drybrush H18 onto it. _________________ Nigel.
