It will be a 1/72 Supermarine S6B. This was the very first model I made 40+ years ago.

Let us hope this one turns out better!

The kit is from the Airfix Collectors tin set

The instructions fit on a single page

And very few parts

The only clear part is a tiny windshield and the carpet monster got that. The pilot is an out of scale blob for a head and armless torso and has been binned.

Thanks to Peter I have some idea of where the rigging should go.

It is a wonderful craft but a horrible kit, nothing fits.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you make of this Colin.   I picked up the Collectors Tin set too earlier this year and was somewhat dismayed at the challenge the kit poses.  It must be ancient!

Good luck!

The kit is an old one but presents no real problems. About the only noticeable error compared to the real one is the exhaust stacks are in the wrong place -they are too high up.

I sanded the kit exhausts off and then drilled holes for new ones further down, (just out of view in this picture).

Hi Adrian

How long have you got...

I built it, tried to rig it with wire (unsuccessfully) and ended up breaking the struts holding the floats on, made new struts and put it back together, tried to do something different with the colour scheme and ended up with a horrible mess.

The S6B was the first kit I ever made and I really wanted to do something special this time but I haven't managed it which is annoying me a lot.

I still intend to finish it (and two other kits) but work has got in the way (I am self employed so not complaining at all).

I am going to take a week off, probably in August when work is usually quiet and have a personal model-fest to catch up.

Thanks for asking.

Colin

Finished it after a fashion, far from happy with it, but there you go. Struts and rigging defeated me in the end.

Here it is with one I prepared earlier...
