Hi, I've seen Hobbycraft make 3 B-36 variants in 1:144 scale but anyone know if other manufacturers produce them at all?? I've read reviews that say the Hobbycraft plastic is 'orange peel' and needs sanding before building up and ... given the asking price of around £40, it seeeems a lot to pay... Anyone built one up and can give pos+negs about the kits? thanks a lot |

A quick look at www.squadron.com, and there are several of B-36 variants in the $40 - $50 range - all Hobbycraft. With Telford so close, why don't you go and have a look there? _________________ “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” Winston Churchill |

I have one (not built yet). The plastic is very smooth indeed, I have not a clue as to why people have been quoting the "orange peel" effect. The only issue I can foresee is that the observation blisters are flat bottomed, whereas the fuselage is curved, so a bit of modding will be required. I did read a review of this, to which the reviewer gave the kit full marks. _________________ "For the last time; these are small, those are far away........" |

Thanks a lot for helpful replies... I bought the one off e-bay last eve (Hobbycraft B-36B)...fingers crossed it arrives despite the postal probs, Hannants have them at £39.99 so may take advantage of 10% off and collect a propjet B-36 fromTelford as not seen any Peacemakers lurking on the 2nd hand stalls there in previous years. I was thinking of a 1:72 scale before good sense took hold and I realised I would need a much bigger house to accomodate its size ! (a house or maybe a hanger would be more apt!) |
