I almost bought the 1/180 Victory on Sunday, or maybe Cutty Sark, but decided it might be cheaper direct from Airfix  :Whistling:

But it got me wondering whether a Classic Ships GB would be feasible
Would enough people be interested  :?:
Would we need to have an extended build

Just a couple of thoughts for the time-being  :)

You'd need an extended build because these things take forevaaaah! If you do the rigging properly that is.

I have the recent Wasa reissue (Amazon pricing error - £13.99 including P & P) and it comes with one of those jigs for making the ratlines.

I was going to eBay it but as I have a Revenge that needs the rigging repaired I was going to hang on and see if the same jig could be used for both.

The deadeyes - the sort of turnbuckle arrangements at the bottom used to tightem the ratlines - are perfunctory on all these ship kits and I can see myself wasting ages improving them.

Meanwhile I am still scowling at an unfinished CB450, Skeleton, Beaufighter, Black Prince, Prussian Uhlan and Anson.

Hmm.

Ayup Ratch...

What Beau said.

I'd love to do a Classic Ship, but with my track record so far this year, and stuff coming up, I couldnae make it...

Ayup Ratch-
I'm tempted but I'd end up rebuilding whatever kit it was from the keel up and I'd be dead before it was finished!
Stuart.........

Sarge-
yes I know but I just have to scratch that urge to improve it a tad- which ends up being the total rebuild!

If it was a long extended build I might be interested, I have HMS Bounty waiting in line, but judging by how long I have been working on the E-Boat and a couple of Landing craft in other GBs it would probably be a very extended build

Cheers

Stu

I would be very interested once I am settled in my new home, which will be in a couple of months. If the GB ias still open then I will join in a flash. Need to get a kit first though.

hmmmmmm  what to choose?

I'd be interested too, I have Wasa from Amazon's cut price offer, and also picked up HMS Victory for a tenner at a show.

I have a couple of Endeavours. An iconic ship to an Aussie, you know. I don't know what that the build length should be. 3 months, if you were concentrating on it? I could start in 2011, I think.

Has a start date been set for this yet- seeing others signing up is giving me the itch to join. I'm trying to find the model I want on ebay at the moment.

The Start Date Poll is taking place here. You will need to sign up via the Usergroups to see it and vote.

Current favourite is 23 Oct 2010 to 23 Apr 2011.

Thanks Dave- if I get the ship I want to build I'll sign up. Hopefully I'll know in a couple of days- I was outbid on one yesterday so fingers crossed number two will be mine.
cheers Stu

Can noobs join in on this or is there a minimum post count/time joined ruling?

Just picked up HMS Bounty on the bay if that counts?
