If all goes well this will be my second build in this GB.  Juggling

I will also try to cover this with household aluminium foil as well.

I hope the decals are useable; they are hanging in the window at the moment
to get rid of the nasty yellow tint they have got after around 30 years in the box.

With kind regards from Jesper.

I’m looking forward to get started tomorrow.
This is the kit I’m going to build:

The decals are still getting a reverse suntan in the window.

Happy building time to all of you from Jesper.

My work so far..

Not haven the faintest idea how the actual cockpit looked in real life, I chose to paint the sidewalls with olive-green, black on the instrument panel with some white and red spots.
The seat got a metallic gray, with silver highlight and brown headrest. The belts are from masking tape.

I glued two lumps of soldering metal to the right side of the fuselage, taking care of being able to close the fuselage when dry.

When the fuselage was dry, it got Mr. Surface 500 in the lesser perfect joints.
The excess was later cleaned with a cotton bud dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

I’ll be back soon...

Jesper.

Nothing more to show at the moment I’m afraid.

I’m experimenting with foil on some scrap plastic to find something suitable to glue it with.
I haven’t had time to visit the nearest hobbyshop to see if they stock glue made with that purpose in mind.
I think when I find a solution to my problem; I’m up and running again with full speed.

I’m a little embarrassed too, because I have spend more time to plan my build in the upcoming what-if? GB instead of using the time on this one.

All the best from Jesper.

I surrender, and switch to the more manageable medium aluminium paint is.

My Shooting Star and F-86D has simply too many compound curves to make them suited as a first try with foil.
Especially when I have problems with the thickness of the foil and the glue I’m using.

I have wasted too much time already, and need to switch gear, to get going again.
It's simply not fun anymore.

More will follow soon I hope.

All the best from Jesper.

Don't give up Jesper as it is a great aircraft and you have made good progress so far. I look forward to seeing the completed model.

Hear hear. Experimenting is what modelling is all about - sorry it didn't work out this time, and god luck with getting the model finished.

They are both ready now, to receive a light sanding and some paint.

Cheers to all.

Jesper.

Looking very nice - if your like me and hate doing silver (I refer to my own 'earlier builds') - I had several kits which got done by a spray can all in 1 hit.  Nice finish - quickly done - ace result!

They both really do look good - I think these will come out real winners.

I bought some fresh metal paints yesterday, and are going to paint the model today.
So I’m up and running again.

I’ll post some pictures soon.

All the best from Jesper.

Good progress on this one too, Jesper, I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like with the paint on.

This is how my Shooting Star is going to leave 2008.
I have worked on it several hours today, but I will not be able to finish it tonight.

As you can see, the natural metal finish is far from good, with lots of streaks who won’t be polished out.

I think I will finish it in the next few days.

Till then, a happy new year to all of you,
and thanks’ for making model building in the past year so enjoyable.

With kind regards from Jesper.
