Hi Ratch

I was away over Easter but the kit has now been delivered, I have opened the box and taken a couple of pictures of the box lid, sprues and decals (not sure why but it seems to be the thing to do, please advise) and will post here soon.

I hope to be applying paint and glue to plastic this weekend and will report back.

The kit is a GR3 and offers a grey/white colour scheme or grey/green scheme, neither look very exciting. Does anyone have an alternative scheme, or could I do a 'what if the Red Arrows got their hands on a Harrier...'

Best wishes

Colin

Sprue shots are not obligatory
That Red Arrows whiff sounds exciting

I had some red gloss paint left over from the Airfix Club 1/48 Spitfire so bought a Gnat and a Hawk to use it up, better get me another tin quick!

The build is underway and I will post some pictures at the weekend. The kit is pretty good, not much flash but the top half of the starboard wing was 2 mm oversize on the trailing edge and had to be sanded to fit. Hopefully the red paint will cover the join...

Can you tell what it is yet?

Seemed like a good idea to paint it as I went along rather than at the end, too many difficult to get to bits.

It is more recognisable in this shot...

I've taken the pilot out for a change of wardrobe, Red Arrows pilots should be in red flying suit, and white helmet?

Hope to have more tomorrow

Colin

Finished!

Better than I hoped but not as good as many here. That isn't missing paint on the leading edges, just reflection of the camera flash.

I know the canopy doesn't fit well but I didn't want to spoil it by trying to make it better, I'll put it to one side for a while and perhaps try again.

I had a lot of fun from the build though.

A neat idea, well executed.  It makes you wonder what the Red Arrows might have done with Harriers!
