Following my thread on the morning of the 'Sark's' fire I have decided to do it much sooner than later. Recently I've been spending (too much!) money on E-bay collecting Airfix's big ships. The other week I had three delivered in one day (Revenge, Discovery and Wasa).

I was thinking recently that it was about time I did another big ship, the last one I did was the 'Great Western' that I gave to Airfix nearly a year and a half ago for use at Toy Fairs. I could'nt decide between the 'Discovery' or the 'Golden Hind' then what with the fire and all that I dug my 'Sark' out of 'The Pile' and browsed the instructions. It looks simple enough until you get to the dreaded rigging. This will be the first time that I will use the rigging machine and all the tables you need to look at to finish the model. Both my 'Great Western' and 'Victory' kits I've done in the past were old releases and the rat lines came pre made, which just meant cutting out and sticking on.

To be continued.....

Good luck with the build, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

BTW, I have split off the "Rigging Machine" posts to a separate thread, here, so as not to hijack Brian's thread.

So did they give up on providing the pre-formed ratlines then? Shows how long its been since I opened a classic ship box!

The hull's together, no real problems, just a bit of filler at the front.

It's had two coats of H12 Copper with a coat of Klear between on the lower hull, and the first coat of H85 Satin Black on the upper hull. I left the white (primer) band that goes around the hull -I may not even need to paint over it with another coat of white, I'll see how it goes.
It will need a third -at least- coat of H12 and a second coat of H85.

Thanks guys, and Ratch it is all brush painted and the paint is straight out of the tin.

I thought I'd do the decoration at the front. I used H16 Gold and a tiny dot of Xtracolor 'KLM' blue.
