Progress will be slow, that's the only thing I can state with certainty!
I'll make a start on this projsect this weekend with a few bits and pieces getting done in the way of preparation but Paula and I leave on hols next Thursday for 2 weeks of sun, exploring and relaxation in Malaysia, so no progress there (I won't be taking this one with me!!!). When we get back we have visitors the first weekend (Paula's dad), so it looks like late April for a "real" start at the very earliest.
This will be the build, anyway (front and back of box):

Here we go, then, a bit of an update.
First up the sprues, all produced in the modern Airfix light grey, pretty bog-standard. There are a couple of sink marks that I already spied on the intake plates that will need some attention:
Then the destructions and the decals. No problems apparent here:
Today I began the work on this kit. To start with it's all fiddly bits of painting, but I've now got H53, H33 and H11 down where it needs to be. Since this pic was taken, I also have the wing halves together and the pilot has his dark green flight suit. In actual fact, fiddly-bit painting has been so good tha the thing is actually ready to go together on my next modelling sesh - a nice simple kit all round!

Well I'm still blocked from doing anything on this and will be for a while. We've just got back from hols and Paula's dad arrives tonight, so this weekend's gone and it looks like next weekend I'll be travelling. progress will happen only from about 19th April by the looks of it. Frustrating or what?! At least it's quite a small and simple kit, though, so when it does move, progress will be quick.

Yeah baby! Progress at last!
All visitors are now gone and we have a few days to ourselves so last night I spent an hour and a half on this build and made huge progress - it looks like an aeroplane now!
First up I put the cockpit together, for what it's worth, added the engine and put the 4 jet nozzles in place. this actually was a quick process and fit was good for such an old kit - kudos to Airfix for that:
Then the weight went into the nose (lead shot) and attached to the rear of the engine (steel rings) and the two fuselage halves went together. there's quite a big step running the length of the top of the fuse and there's quite a mismatch around the cockpit, where the canopy's back edge will sit. That's all going to take some work, as will the amount of filling needed for all of the sink marks.
Finally, wings and horizontal tail went on, along with the rear cap behind the tail assembly and the long versionof the nose probe. The wings were not a wonderful fit so are going to need some work to blend in on both the top and bottom surfaces, but this is how I left the P1127 last night:

Yes, finally.
I've sanded and filled and H64-ed the whole thing. Last night I got the first coat of H11 onto the thing - I'm going to do this in the traditional way. H11 with a hairy stick.
Pics will be posted when I've taken some!!!

I told a porky there. I actually took pics last night but haven't had time to upload them to photobucket yet... so a little more teasing
Anyway, last night I gave it a second coat of H11 with a hairy stick. A few minutes of touching up with some gunmetal and this one will be ready for decals. It's actually been a pleasurable quick build.

Now isn't that a remarkable looking thing! The Emperor Ming might have had a few of those in the hangar. _________________ “Build what YOU want, the way YOU want to, and above all, have fun.”
