It's high time I put together some sort of portfolio, having been posting here for several years and never quite getting round to it. I became an AA (Airfix Addict) around the age of ten, during a golden era when Airfix were just getting into their stride in 1/72 (my territory ever since). Wargaming with my brothers was a great joy of the 1970s, our favourite periods being Napoleonic and WWII, but with frequent equally absorbing forays into Ancient Romans/Britons, American War of Independence, US Civil War and WWI in particular.

I got restarted on it all a few years ago (never having given it up quite in the interval, mind) and now find I am well on the way to painting the whole Airfix figures range. I'm old school so it's Humbrol all the way for me, by the way. I have also gone deep into the catalogues of HaT, Italeri, Esci and other makers who have sprung up in more recent times (Plastic Soldier Review is an indispensable help with this) and have even had a go at making my own figs. I build aircraft and assorted vehicles, too, chiefly where they have a role to play on - or above - the (solo) wargaming table, and try to make buildings and scenery to give my wargames a sub-diorama look. Anyhow, hope you enjoy the pics to come.

A small selection of Napoleonics to start with. I can now refight Waterloo with 1000 painted-up figures but nothing like that for the Peninsular War - yet!

Rorke's Drift was a game we could only dream of replaying back in the seventies (I tried converting WWI Prussians to serve as British, but had mixed success trying to turn Ancient Britons into Zulus!), so it was great to see figures turning up for this era when they finally appeared.

These are mostly pics from actual wargames, which is why they are not really up to diorama standards - but I do like to dress battlefields up a little with backgrounds etc., as in these examples from the American West...

Ancient Rome is another era I'm looking forward to returning to (I'm thinking of a gladiatorial spectacular perhaps).

My first (clumsy) attempts at making my own figures, using Procreate Sculptor's Putty. I've since invested in some magnification so hopefully my next attempts won't be so hamfisted!

The sculpts are good for a begginer, especially the "gangster casualties" :thumb:
