Hello folks,

I'm Deanflyer, been seen on a few other forums under that name too, and I generally make aircraft although the odd car slips through occasionally too.

I did the standard thing of modelling as a kid, drifting away in my teens/twenties and then coming back into it five years ago in my late thirties. Everything in the following posts is from this latter period, as although I still have a lot of my earlier stuff, I wouldn't dare show it to you!

Hope you like them,
Dean

I think it fair to say that what goes on this site represents the full range of 'good, bad and ugly', each with its own bit of interest.  I have put models on the site that are up to 50 years old, sometimes just to show what an old kit looked like and irrespective of the quality of the build. There is no real 'dare' to it since nobobody bats or raises an eyelid and if they do, they do it quietly. Besides, if the site was only for the best stuff, it would become something that it is not, i.e. an elite showcase to look at but with very few actually posting anything on it. It might even be encouraging to some viewers to see how someone has progressed over the years. I'm sure that all your models will be of interest.

Right, on with the builds. Airfix stuff first, I think:

My 1/48 Lightning F6:

The now famous 1/72 Exploded Diagram Lightning:

1/48 Airfix Hurricane built in monochrome to match period reference photos, all markings painted on:
Image

Airfix 1/144 Apollo Saturn V:
Image

...and the 1/48 P-51 which was the first model I built when I returned to the hobby five years ago:
Image

Then the non Airfix stuff, all 1/32 first-

Matchbox Me 109 completely reworked:
Image

Revell Hunter FGA9:
Image

Revell Bell X-1 completely rescribed:
Image

Matchbox Tiger Moth, painted to represent one I flew in Australia:
Image

Revell F-16, completely rescribed:
Image

Hasegawa F-104C Starfighter, finished in foil:
Image

Revell Spitfire Mk1, rescribed fuselage:
Image

Revell 1/28 Fokker Dr1, extensively reworked:
Image

Revell Junkers 87B Stuka, extensively reworked:

Next post: 1/48 stuff

Great models of a very high standard, Deanflyer. :thumb:

So you are the man behind the exploded Lightning?
Excellent idea, and so obvious when you think about it.

But to get the idea… well that’s another thing.  :notworthy:

All the best from Jesper.

Superb work Dean  :notworthy:

As gerry said, maybe one or two pix of earlier builds might encourage some of those developing their skills to keep at it
