OK folks, time to get your thinking caps on
I'd like us to kick off with a GB under this heading in two to three months if possible. I have an idea or two up my sleeve, but I'd really like you guys to put your suggestions forward first (mine can be held in abeyance) for the inaugural ATF Dioramas & Figures GB
I'd just like to stipulate one thing initially. If you're thinking of a diorama, please thing smallish (around A4 size) if not a smaller vignette I'd like to give as many members as possible the opportunity to participate and don't want anyone put off by size (sometimes it does matter ), so over to you.....

How about a 1/32 Scale Multi-Pose Group Build? Each of use could build/Paint the figures and make a small scene if necessary. Maybe if Airfix re-released their 1/32 AFV Range, we could use those

For the Dioramas & Figures GB's I think we should work on themes rather than individual kits (unless they're readily available)
BTW those who propose ought to be prepared to lead that GB if their subject is chosen
I'd like as many suggestions as possible before I make a final list for us to vote on

Could you put a theme to that - i.e. a specific battle or war or were you just thinking 'anything goes'

Perhaps the GB could be given a title which the model has to convey - like a 'Mad dogs and Englishmen' theme for desert figures/dioramas?

Following along the lines of themed builds and inspired by a comment by Little Kid Falky over in the Willys Jeep build, how about an artillery based diorama featuring gun, crew and tow vehicle.

Airfix make a few sets that would fit the bill:

6pdr and bren carrier
25pdr and quad
88mm and SdKfz7
5.5” gun and Matador
Pak40 and Opel Blitz

I realise that I could be losing customers from the military vehicle builds here but perhaps this could be done as a cross over build between the military vehicle section and the diorama/figure section.

The idea being we nominate one of the above and build it in the military vehicle group build section, the completed model being shown in the gallery in that section.

The construction of the diorama base and figures are covered in this section, the two are then united and the completed vehicle/gun/crew are shown on their diorama base in the gallery in this section.

What do you chaps think, is this idea feasible or perhaps ridiculous?

Cheers

Stu

I think that idea had potential Stu
I'd started getting some kits as the basis for a North Africa Dio (the Matador & a Bren Carrier) and I wouldn't mind reporting the progress of the vehicles in that GB and the dio-base & figures in that place provided it could be scheduled suitably

Thanks Ratch, I think with a careful bit of organisation it may be a novel way to approach group builds, the idea could also be used with aircraft, ships/boats and railways. If the idea is taken up I can see you having a fairly busy group build section here

Cheers

Time to kick this one back to life

We've had six proposals put forward and before I set up a poll I'd like each who made these proposals to confirm your willingness to lead such a build (I will take any new proposals and add them to the poll, with the proposer automatically being that GB Leader)

Owen = 1:32 Multipose
Feanor = Battle of Waterloo Vignette
1truegod = Great British Civil War
Joe = single figure vignette
DavidM = English Civil War figure(s)
Stuzzar = Gun Crew diorama

Please confirm (or withdraw) your proposals
