You can paint buildings any colours that you think right
Look for other reviews/demos/gallery pictures

I am sure there was a painting guide on the box. I don't think I have - well I am sure I would not still have - the box... but have a look on the airfix web site, as they generally list the suggested paints alongside the kits in an attempt to get you to buy them at same time as buying kit... and for some kits they also show some photos of the front/rear of the box .....

Here's an idea for the church. Wash with dish liquid and water. Rinse and let dry. Prime if you wish and let dry. Acrylic paint - paint the whole thing Dark Earth 29. Take some black paint and mix it with acrylic thinner or water (maybe paint 20%-80% water). Wash it on with a paint brush and let it dry (don't be concerned if it looks blotchy and bad). Now mix some Dark Earth with something lighter (perhaps Cream 103). Allow the mix to dry upon your brush for a bit and then brush it onto some paper. When the brush is beginning to run out of paint, start brushing the building. You should start seeing an agreeable result. Practice on a building that doesn't count. I believe you'll be an expert in half an hour. You can change the mixes to become more subtle or more dramatic.

Happy modelling!
