This thread is for you to post any reference material that may be useful during the Group Build. Please remember the rules for posting pictures and copyright issues. In addition to this thread, there is another one that lists all the hardware used by both sides and which can be modelled using Airfix kits. You can read it here.
Non-reference posts should be made in the "Chat" thread.

Well here's the Airfix 1/24 FRS-1 from 'Operation Corporate' with 2 kills from the conflict. All the best if you want to complete in timeframe given!

The timeframe isn't obligatory but is merely "guidance".

Feanor,
Yes, I'm sure. It was a 'small' conflict. Though Ratch's in 1/72 deems it smaller still? |

Vulcan's are bound to be look smaller, though, 'cos they fly higher than Harriers... _________________ Cheers,

Not sure if it's the same ship or even colour before getting a refit? |

It's the same ship and same colour but the funnel shown is larger (and red/black with red on the inside face of the funnel scoop) following a refit in 1986 when diesels were fitted as you can see here. For the Falklands War, the funnel was the much slimmer one as shown in the Airfix kit and was painted black/white with red on the inside face of the funnel scoop as you can see here.

Here's a pic I took at the Aeroventure model show in Doncaster this weekend.
It's one of the best modern ship models I've seen.
It was on dispaly at the South Atlantic Sigs stand.
I'll post a few more pics of the fantastic ships built by this group later as there were some more interesting models. |

This month's Model Aircraft Monthly is a Falklands special. It contains schemes for a number of aircraft, plus articles on building the Airfix 1/48 SHar FRS1, 1/48 Harrier GR3, 1/72 Lynx (in RN and Argentinean colours), Scout and Gazelle and 1/72 Black Buck Vulcan. There's also a pull-out section on the aircraft used by Argentina during the conflict.
Definitely worth taking a look at a copy if anyone is thinking of modelling any of those. _________________ Cheers,

Well here's a couple of Argentine scooters for reference. Note sure of these schemes but version seems ok.
I recall building an Argentine A4 long ago in brown and green camo with the blue/white/blue roundels.
