Or is it my computer that is taking its time ?

Anybody else suffering the same ??

I'm trying to post some update photos for my current GB but finding it almost impossible to load. :hithead:

Hi Ian,

I've been using Flickr for about 4 years now and about once a year it does 'play up' a bit. It might be updates or something. Normally only lasts for about an hour, then normal service is resumed. That is the only problem I have ever had with Flickr

If you want to check if Flickr (or anyone else) is actually down, a good place to look is Down for everyone? - just copy and paste the url you're trying to contact. If you've got as far as uploading but it's taking ages it may be a problem with your line upload speed (something I suffer from regularly, being in a rural area a long way from the local exchange - but it is usually much slower than your download speed). There are plenty of on-line test sites such as this one and some offer advice on how you might improve matters. Or, as roadhousedisco says, it may just be the host site doing a bit of maintenance (hosing down those servers, re-tying the bows on the ribbon cable, or in Flickr's case bifurcating the ribbles). That usually doesn't last very long so the best advice, annoying though it sounds from a recorded voice, is 'please try again later'.

If your computer is running on Windows 10, then it might be that causing the problems, as the usual Microsoft urge to improve? (mess about) with the software means that it occasionally/frequently goes into sulk mode while it downloads and installs one of the all too frequent updates or does some housekeeping, both of which tend to hammer the disc drive and CPU and prevent anything else getting a look in. One normal clue to this behaviour is that the fan goes into overdrive trying to keep the things from overheating.
