Having recently completed an ATF Build Review of the 1/48th scale Airfix kit of the Supacat Jackal I felt the need for a better set of wheels sporting a more realistic tyre tread pattern, thankfully the French company Gaso.line came to the rescue, they produce two sets GAS48110A which has four wheels for the Jackal and GAS48110B which contains 6 wheels suitable for the Coyote. The wheels are cast in a pale grey resin and are feature very well detailed tyre tread in the pattern actually used on the vehicles concerned

I have purchased a few sets of these as you can see above, oddly, although the tyre detail is a vast improvement on the Airfix supplied version, the hubs on the Gaso.line wheels are not quite as detailed as the Airfix kit hubs, I would suppose that this could be dealt with by removing the hubs from the resin pieces and cutting the Airfix hubs off to use a replacements.

Here are the two types, Airfix on the top row

and a close up

You can probably make out the finer hub detail on the Airfix part but the more detailed tyre wins out for me, these make a vast improvement to the look of the Airfix kit even with the softer hub detail and in my humble opinion the Jackal and Coyote kits certainly deserve to have a set of these fitted

The Jackal set of 4 wheels sells for 5 Euros and the Coyote set (6 wheels) for 6,67 Euros.

Gaso.line also make replacement wheels for the Airfix Land Rovers along with a set of etched brass grills they also produce a stowage and weapons set for the Jackal/Coyote

Cheers Stu
(I have no connection with Gaso.line other than as a very satisfied customer)

I like the tread pattern better on the aftermarket wheels. More suited for rougher terrain with stronger grip  Great model. :thumb:

I found the wheels, but the stowage set eludes me? :help:

You can also type Jackal in the search box (not the one with the two** in it), it then brings up all the accessories for the Jackal/Coyote.

I must agree it is a flipping awkward site to find anything on though :hithead:

Cheers

I've found an alternative set, from Rhino Models, via A2Zee Models, reviewed on Britmodeller, here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/inde ... 148-rhino/

I've ordered a set, so we'll see how they look.....I'm a bit concerned they will all be oriented identically on the model. :nailbite:

They also look a little to angular if you know what I mean, the tyre wall look too flat where as the Gasoline ones seem more rounded, the hub detail looks sharper on these though.

May order some Land Rover sets, they look OK

Cheers
