Possibly the Fw190-F8 - I say possibly as there a few others to choose from and depends on if the Mossie makes it out. _________________ the evolution of the modern car is such it now ressembles a toaster. |

As Mossie won't be due until after Christmas - I've made a tentative start on this. I've opted for an F-8 version (not the F-2 kit version). So there will be a few extras and heavier arnament and armour plating to add. SD70 bombs etc _________________ the evolution of the modern car is such it now ressembles a toaster. |

No, I prefer to make my own if at all. Speaking of which - bombs for the wings were done.
Also sprue shots can be seen on Owens thread - I have the same to work with. The sprue parts got sprayed with Gloss Gunmetal. I find this a good base coat to partially overspray to give a worn along with a oil and grime look. It also cuts out alot of spray work to start.
Parts were detached and blue tacked onto a plastic rod (or paint sprue if there is such a thing) so I don't have to cut parts off and retouch where they've been removed from the sprue. The gunmetal dries quickly - so paint application being a 'blue gray' (H78) followed. I mixed in a metallic blue green (a tiny amount) to give a marginal overpainted metal look.
Anything use with this colour got sprayed as well. Only takes about 15 minutes and then I could start on the H79 Interior Green. It's the same again - gunmetal gloss covered by a mix of metallic blue green and interior green - so instead of a flat colour - the colour has depth to it with a marginal sheen. Now it's all currently drying. Surprisingly - once the paint is on - it's just a case of assemble for alot of the interior pieces.

Looking good so far Ian. I like the idea of spraying everything in Gunmetal - makes perfect sense I'll give it a go _________________ Owen

Had a free day to tinker with this - so engine got a light spray of silver over the gunmetal finish.
Engine cylinders done with re painting but not fully complete - extra details required to dress it up.
Basic cockpit assembly also done - seen here box stock with recommended colours. This will need a few changes too as by todays standards it's rather bare.

You might have addressed it, but it's hard to tell from the photo - the shrouds around the cylinder heads are fully aluminium. Good progress, by the way. _________________ “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” Winston Churchill |

Yes, I still need to touch up the engine - and the wiring etc, which is actually quite simple and well worht the effort. I think I'll go ahead and do the upgrade for this as well as another club member is keen on more detail for the panels. _________________ the evolution of the modern car is such it now ressembles a toaster. |

That's a shame HT, it was going so well too! Will you be tackling another build? _________________ Owen

Well, it's my fault as I know I bagged the parts and was certain I knew where they were. I've pulled the cupboard and kits apart trying to find it - found heaps of other stuff but not the bits I'm looking for. For the time being - very nearly done cold war jets and kit for 'what if' turned up - so all going well I can revise this with another kit.

Thanks for the offer Brews, I've got another complete kit I've moulded parts off. There has been progress finding some parts - only to find the bag that stored them had a hole in it so they're strewn about.
If anything I may have to change the variant. I could keep going but for my own preference I like it to be technically correct (trust me to be picky).
Otherwise I may opt for another kit though and am tempted after seeing Ratch's Hurricane- at least I know this is fully complete.

Is it ok to go for a fresh start with a complete kit on this? I could do the 190 - but moulding parts and alterations is going to take a looooooooong time.... at my rate anyway.
Maybe a different Mk of Spitty? Vc(4) Maybe?

Shouldn't be a problem, just let Owen know the subject and he can set up a new thread for you and lock this one.
