How About a "Captured Kits/Kits in Trouble " Group build. Firstly, I know it needs a better title. The only decent title I could think of was a slightly ruder, but of saying 'Kits in Trouble.' (it had assonance!) But a title'll come.
Basically, depicting a kit in a position where the enemy have either won already or are about to win- Painting an aircraft in captured markings, or weathering it with heavy battle damage/ showing it crashed? With figures, you could show them as prisoners or surrounded, & you could do both of the above with tanks. With ships you could arrange them in a diorama based on a historical event- say HMS Hood & the Bismark... Either way, I think the concept's got potential- just needs some work!
What do we think?

I'd say that idea has some real merit.....It would make a very good 'Special Build' too, open to aircraft and vehicles!

There's a few concepts there;
Dogfight doubles. (Adversaries air/land/sea).
Captured vehicles/aircraft in enemy service.
Crash diorama's.

Is that the kind of thing you mean?

Sounds a top idea    I have a few kits won on rubbish bay which are very incomplete and could only be built as part of a crash diorama or in the case of vehicles ones which have been attacked and destroyed in battle.

Richard, I meant- an amalgamation of all 3 so that figures armour & ships could be built as well. Merit in the idea?

with the dogfight doubles, I'd say they only qualify if you show one in a completely beaten up state, weathered to look like it's going down ie after it's been defeated, otherwise it wouldn't qualify...

Sounds a reasonable idea, but I would say it's more of a diorama build than a special. A diorama would enable several different subjects (vehicles, aircraft,  figures, buildings) to be built together on a base, with one of the subjects damaged, or crashed, captured etc.

How about an "End of the line" Diorama GB or alternatively, "The Fat Ladies Singing" Diorama GB

I've just done a GMC truck in axis service could have done a better swastika flag but it's a first.
It's basically the GMC truck with an axis flag over the bonnet and some bombs/tank spares in the back. Got the idea from saints and soldiers 'cept it's a willys jeep in that

disagree I'm afraid Richard
I think the fat lady singing is a great name, but why narrow it down to dioramas? If you keep it broad most users will be able to join in. Dioramas could be included, but narrowing down to that at the expense of losing individual models seems unwise.

So you're suggesting a GB which could include any of the following -

single kit aircraft/vehicle/figure/ship that has been damaged in battle/crashed/surrendered/in enemy service build, or multiple ships/aircraft/vehicles/figures engaged in combat with battle damage with one side about to lose/surrender/crash, or diorama based builds of any of the above?

Just so I'm clear on what is being suggested so it can be put to a forum poll.

That sounds a very wide spectrum to vote on IMHO

Right, apologies, No offence intended I'll try again.
How about:
single kit aircraft/vehicle/figure/ship that has /crashed/in enemy service/ been defeated build, or diorama based builds of any of the above?
Allows options for almost all interests around a specific & unusual theme. Not a lot broader than the Africa campaign IMO?
What do we think?

In principle I don't see a problem, but with such a wide scope we are looking at a 'Special Build'.....The 'Africa SB' has just finished, so we could certainly include your idea in the next 'Specials Poll'.

Another option might be to choose a narrower category within your broad idea for a 'Group Build' (if it includes only Airfix kits), perhaps 'Dogfight Doubles' for instance, or as a 'Theme Build' (which can include anything and might be any subject), perhaps 'French Aircraft In Axis Colours'.

Just a thought, all the best

I really don't mind Andy, both would be good, but how many french aircraft kits have airfix got out at the moment?! Would Captured aircraft in general give more choice?

Why not just do 'Captured Aircraft'.

Apart from the usual candidates (British 109, Luftwaffe Spitfire) the availability of decals and a bit of imagination could produce many 'what ifs' from a Russian Wright Flyer to an Iraqi Stealth Bomber and everything in between.

Just an idea...

I think most of the French efforts are covered by the 'Ugly Sisters Theme Build'.....With one or two truly beautiful exceptions.

A 'Captured Aircraft GB' is a very realistic possibility for a Military Aircraft GB.....We have been discussing some of the prospects for the next poll quite recently, here:
