Hi everyone, ive recently got my ten year old son interested in modeling and through this have rekindled my dormant hobby from many years ago!

From what i remember the first airfix kit i built was around 1974 and i think it was a lancaster bomber. In all fairness my dad tended to buy me kits then let me "assist" him building them (history has gone full circle now!).

I built heaps of 1/72 aircraft up to the age of about 12 then the hobby kind of lost its shine for some reason. HOWEVER im now back in the saddle so to speak in a big way and have been hitting ebay (and my credit card) pretty hard over the last few months.

I am building up a very nice stash of vintage kits i love getting old sixties/seventies era kits with the wonderful roy harris (hope thats the right name) artwork on the boxes, this artwork alone always made me want to buy the kits back when i was a kid.

Right now i have an old 1/24 scale mustang on the workbench about a third of the way through, have built the engine and tried to do lots of detailing / dry brushing on it to make it look good.

Next will be a lovely 1/24 stuka from 1977, hoping to try and convert it to a tank buster.

My current airfix stash :

1/72
Heinkel He 177, 2 * B29 Superfortresses, B17 Flying Fortress
Dornier Flying Pencil, Henschel Tank Buster, Douglas Invader

1/24
Stuka, Messerschmit 109, Focke Wolf FW190

Ive also got a bunch of monogram and revell vintage kits to build.

Going to have a busy winter!!!

Love the forum,

Hope to pick your brains over the next few months!

Cheers,
 Chris
