Hi all,

I'm coming to a slow end to my first kit and have naturally turned my attention to the next one before finishing the previous effort  . It's an Airfix 1/48 Mossie PR.XVI, and, <insert vehemently unimpressed expression of your choice here> build instructions aside, requires a bit of matt chocolate for the pilot headgear. I'm using acrylics and can only find this in enamel...is it not available, and if so, what alternative would you recommend? I've seen suggestions to paint in matt black and drybrush leather, would that work?

Cheers,
Matt

98 isn't available in acrylic.
I use 10 Service Brown for soft leather helmets. Its gloss, I then put a matt varnish over it.
10 is available in acrylic

I've been using Citadel minatures acrylics for little jobs like this (my LMS, Hobbyco here in Sydney doesn't have humbrol acylics). I don't know the Citadel exact match for 98, but I would say 'mournfang brown' is a good leather shade (more similar to humbrol 186).
