About 7 years ago I was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had an operation to remove it which left me with a stoma and no way back for normal bowel movements. Last week I was sent for a test on the other end with a scope down into my stomach and they have now found a growth. Biopsies have been taken and I have a CT scan for the 12 April, all this has happened within 4 weeks since seeing the GP, so things are moving swiftly. Presently the outcome will depend on the results of the CT scan as to whether it is operable, but presently to my mind it isn't looking good. I'm still okay within myself with a few aches but the main problem is difficulty in eating as most stuff has to be liquid or at least 'wet' Fortunately my GP has signed me off work so I can concentrate on trying to keep my weight steady as it has gone down in the last 4 months due to not being able to eat properly. At least I can still build kits at present and this helps me to avoid dwelling on things, although I am quite pragmatic about any outcome, which is probably down to my engineering back ground. I will post any updates here for those that may be interested.

Keep pragmatic - and modelling. The future does tend to be opaque at the best of times, but building something does remind us to stay level-headed. Fingers crossed!

Update: I have been offered an earlier CT Scan due to a cancellation so I will be going tomorrow instead of the 12th. Things seem to be speeding up!

I send you my best wishes and support over the coming weeks, Steve.

If you need the help of any of the ATF "family" or just want to chat, you know where to find us.

Good luck with the scan.

Dave

Well the consultants appointment did not go well. Apparently I have an 11cm tumour in my esophagus and it has spread to my liver. Although they cannot seem to fathom out how well I look  I shall be seeing the oncologist next week hopefully with a view to Chemotherapy which will help to prolong life but not cure it, provided it works. So there you have it it looks like it is finally going to get me, however not without a fight. I have already upped my calorie intake to try to build myself up and managed to gain a small amount of weight this week which will all help according to the nurse. No doubt I will have more detail next week after seeing the oncologist. Onwards and forwards!
