What is KitStarter?
KitStarter is an exciting new, experimental concept in modelling, exclusive to the Airfix website. Essentially it is your chance to decide which vintage Airfix models, from a selection, are put back into production for a limited edition run.
The Airfix archive includes a wide variety of models, including subjects that you might not expect such as historical figures, birds and even dinosaurs! We will be adding more kits each month as the KitStarter project develops, and you can even suggest what you'd like to see revived on the KitStarter Forum.

Airfix 1/72 Basset Beagle
Description
Put the classic Airfix Basset Beagle kit back into production by backing this KitStarter project - place a pre-order now to show your support.
Year first released: 1968
Price includes free UK shipping - international orders will be charged at standard delivery rates.
As the tooling for this model is held in India, the manufacture will take place there hence the lead time for production will be slightly longer.
Please note - the finished model will be supplied in plain packaging and not the original vintage box. We will advise which Humbrol paints to use with this kit once the model has been put into production.
As this model is being produced from its original mould, some slight flashing and other minor age-related flaws may be present in the kit.

I think it would be helpful for Airfix to advise on which decal scheme(s) is/are proposed to be released with this
(and other aircraft - admittedly not really relevent for figures or cars). If multiple schemes are offered, it might
even encourage multiple orders.

This question has also been asked on the Airfix forum, but not (as yet) answered as far as I can see.

They probably won't commit to looking at schemes until there's a reasonable likelihood of actually doing a run of kits.

My guess would be that they'll reuse the previous schemes (or a selection thereof, if there's been more than two), maybe with bonus stencils. The two pictured in the boxarts above are probably likely candidates.

In the case of the Basset, there's not a whole lot of schemes to choose from in RAF use, although there's a very Rippleliscious RAE scheme, but it probably requires some extra parts.

A civilian option would broaden it's appeal. An Australian flying doctor aircraft for instance.

I'm sure they will reuse previous scheme(s). I can't see a new scheme decal sheet being prepared for this.

My point is that knowing what scheme(s) will be provided may affect the number that get ordered.

Direct link added.

Up to 40% now. Looks like this one could make it. Hope so, as I've ordered one!

Has it dropped in price too? I could have sworn it was £ 15 the other day (it's now £ 12.50)

Both aircraft showing as £15 to me (£13.50 with club discount), £12.50 would be the price without VAT, might be that you're being shown the non-EU VAT-free price, is Guernsey exempt in this manner? Otherwise I'd just chalk it up as a site glitch.

I wasn't imagining it; on the PC it's £ 12.50 and the iPad £ 15.00, same for the Beaver.
But your VAT theory is probably correct, Apple don't believe Guernsey exists, so the iPad is "in" the UK.
I was vaguely hoping the price was dropping the more people signed up, so if it hit 100% the price would be about 50p or so.

Decal scheme will be as per the last issue of the kit. Packaging will be plain brown box with Airfix and KitStarter stickers. The production run limited enough that it should definitely be collectible for those so inclined.

45% backed at 16:00 10/8 Just ordered 4 I wonder if it'll jump up by much.
Would be good to have the Regal Beagle markings as those I had on my last example were thick and glossy and badly cracked - disintegrated like Novo decals when hitting the water.
Quite happy to service any non-uk ATF'ers who are put off by the Hornby shipping cost. I would do at cost (plus any PP fee)

Bump - backing now at 57%. Just re-watched "Test Pilot" while home sick from work, so I feel a sudden urge to back this project...

If anyone's still interested - I'm wondering if Airfix is - the Basset is now at 64%.

I've asked on their forum if there'll be an update...considering it's almost four months since the last one...
