Pictures of Lol's builds will be posted here. These will be mostly WW1 1/72 aircraft as I try and recreate the collection I had in 1981...

Lol.

Very nice!

Were they that standard in 1981?   8-)

Thanks Digs. No, these 2 were done in 2010, my first builds in plastic after a gaps of some 25 years. My collection from 1981 is, sadly, long gone.

Lol.

Look forward to seeing more of your WW1 aircraft.  8-)

Did you hand paint the pattern on the Hannover?

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Ben - I did the whole lozenge finish using self-printed decals. This was my first go at using self-printed decals to such an extent and it turned out way better than I could have hoped.

I've put some more information in another post on the Hannover gallery page. If there's interest, perhaps I should go into more detail in a separate thread in the correct section. (Decals, Markings and Paint Schemes?)

Lol.

Matchbox 1/72 Fairey Seafox. Started 1984, completed 2010...

Image

The bits of this had been stored in an old ice cream box that I found while searching for my old tools. Most of the work had been completed by my 16 year old self (assembly, painting, decaling) with just the final assembly still to do. The top wing had been attached at one stage but had since come away. The floats had never been attached because the float struts supplied in the kit had been short-shot (this was the main reason why it was never completed originally). I made up some new float struts from Contrail rod, remade some other bits that were missing, finished the assembly and did the rigging. Still a long way from perfect, but I figured it was decent enough to merit finally being finished off properly.

Lol.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Milo - the rigging was done with Aeroclub lycra filament, wrapped round the bases of the struts and fixed with superglue. It worked out okay, but for my next build (featuring in the 4th Anniversary GB) I'll be going with pre-drilled holes in the wings.

Lol.

Lovely Brisfit Lolw.  8-)
I somehow missed your build thread altogether (only just getting into this 'group build' idea) - really must get some of that elastic stuff for rigging. And great idea for bending the top wing: I admit I'd have just used fingers and hoped for the best...

Hello Lol.

Top work especially with the rigging. One day I hope to work up the courage to have a go at WWI rigging!

James.

Superb builds there! There is something remarkably authentic about your models; they look amazingly real and of the age of the subject, if you know what I mean.

Your rigging is very well done - speaking as one who hasn't yet attempted this. I actually like your original idea of Aeroclub lycra filament, wrapped round the bases of the struts and fixed with superglue. That sounds like a slightly less intimidating way to start off than drilling holes in wings! I really must stop being such a scaredy cat and have a go. There is a Revell Swordfish in my stash that's just crying out to be rigged!
