Here we go then chaps, only a week left before kick off!
Get posting in your build threads about your plans, & it's still not too late to join in.
I've put off building a few kits just for this GB as Nightstalkers are a massive favourite of mine, so it's a GB I'm thrilled to be leading.
Anyone got anything special planned? I'm really looking forward to seeing some German schemes.
All the Best

I think I am going to build the Mosquito. Its all ways been a favourite of mine after watching 633 squadron. I am not decided whether to build 1/72 or 1/48. Does either of these or both have a night fighter scheme OOB or will I need to get after market decals? _________________ Cheers

I was going to covert a Beaufighter but I'v already built it whilst waiting for the GB to start.
It look's like it's going to be a Mossie and I might do a German subject for balance. _________________ Cheers Glyn. |

The 1/72 mossie in this boxing (or the current boxing withan updated version of the the same artwork) has the nightfighter scheme YP*R OOB. If the decals come on Brown backing I can send you some spares I've got of that scheme. _________________ --.. --- -. . / -.-. .- .-.. .-.. / .-- --- --- -.. |

Personally I would find it helpful to have a list of Airfix kits that are OK for this build. Searching ebay/google hasn't really drawn up a satisfactory conclusion.. _________________ Regards, Martin

I'll be building a Bf109E converted to nightfighter scheme with some special decals I've ordered from Hannants. I hope to try modifying the kit slightly to take into account variations in the nightfighter equipment. _________________ Airfix Club member |

Bristol Blenheim - used as for night defence until the Beaufighter appeared - not sure whether the Airfix variant (Mk IV) is viable?
edit: scrub that - it was the Mk1 that was used for night defence, my mistake! |

Blenheim IV's were used as night intruders. I could dig out some colour references for anybody that wanted to do one. Also the Aeroclub Mk I vac canopy provides a simple conversion for doing a Mk I.

I thought this GB was for fighters and intruders, not just anything nocturnal (though I see that I misunderstood). My question is, "is this limited to WWII", because if not, then you could add all sorts of things from DH4, Camel, Avro 504 to Banshee, Phantom, Javelin, Mirage etc etc etc
Since it includes night bombers:
Wellington
Hampden
He 111
SM 79
PE 2
A26
B29
Hs 123
other NFs:
Bf 109s were used for Wilde Sau
Bf 110
F6F
F4U
P38
P61 |

I'm pretty sure this GB doesn't include heavy bombers!
All the best

Read it and weep It probably needs a clarification of the term "bomber". |

I think it's probably "night intruder" rather than bomber. I think we ruled out straight bombers (that could operate either in daylight or at night) in the chat discussing the GB. I think it's any time period, but Adrian will clarify things.

Sorry, my mistake - I wasn't sure whether it did or didn't include bombers. I should have read the discussion before I set it up! I'll take it back out again.
Only night fighters and intruders then, no bombers! _________________ Cheers,

Cheers for the clarification.....'Stalking' isn't really a heavy-bomber sort of thing though is it? If it were 'Night-Blunderers GB' or 'Night-Bomb-It-All-Let-God-Sort-It-Outers GB' then they would probably be eminently suitable!

Any time period? Break out the F-117s, F-15s, Mirage F1c (first plane shot down in Desert Storm), MiG 29, MiG 23, Mig 21, Tornado F3s, AH-64s and Night Harriers for some Kosovo / Gulf action.
AC 130H for Vietnam / Gulf
AC 47, MiG 17 for Vietnam
MiG 15, A26, Banshee for Korea (not sure if Skyraiders flew at night) _________________ “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” Winston Churchill |
