| I shall be building the RAF version. I found a pair of Airwaves resin mosquito wheels too. |

I've started on the build. The beauty with using acrylic paints is that by the time you have washed your paint brush and gone to the fridge to get another ale the paint is dry and you can get cracking on with other bits hence the somewhat speed of this assembly.
Wings assembled and cockpit and sprues painted.
Hacking the nose off to fix the replacement nose. Airfix provide a cutting line for this. Ale fueled sawing never results in a good finish !
Glueing the fuselage halves and cockpit floor together.
Nose and tail plane on.
Main wings on.
The assembly has been straight forward so far with no flash on the sprues and everything fitting perfectly (bar the new nose).
The new nose is moulded slightly smaller than the fuselage so there is a slight step around it which will be solved with the old sanding stick. |

Mossie assembled and first undercoat of HU30 enamel on. I've run out of acrylics so it will be a slow paint process.

I like the heavily weathered finish!

Thomas you have done a nice neat job on the nose conversion. It is interesting how different this aircraft looks compared to the MKII that I am building, yours with new nose and fuel tanks looks much more chubby.

If you're going to use the decal D-Day stripes Thomas, you'll have to remove the tanks!
Even if not, it'll be easier to paint them on without them in the way. _________________ Bubbly! |

You'd be better off using H116 than H30, you know. _________________ “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” Winston Churchill |

Latest updates
The drop tanks will not come off so some daring do with the decals is in order.
Regarding the HU30, I usually use Xtracrylic RAF Dark Green but had ran out. I found an unused HU30 enamel tin in my paint box and used that instead. |

Decals on.
As they were 15 years old the bigger striped decals broke up a bit which made it a bit easier to cut around the drop tanks.
Lots of decal fix was used to make the decals stick.
A few touch up jobs, aerials to add and a coat of matt varnish and it will be finished.

Finished
Airfix D.H Mosquito NF XIX 157SQ RAF RAF Swannington 1944
Mixture of humbrol enamels and acrylics.
Like most people I had problems with the undercarriage legs and on one leg there is only half a cross piece left. The matt varnish seems to have turned everything gloss.
