There is a comment hidden on the Airfix facebook page by Airfix saying no Black Friday sale this year. Part of me is bitterly disappointed but my wallet and stash are pleased. Looking forward to New Year then...

Personally I think its not such a bad thing. In the past I think they did it for slow moving items to clear warehouse space. Maybe they're managing the stock better and don't need to do it this year

Have I missed it or are Airfix not having their usual Black Friday sale this year? Some seriously good offers over the past couple of years. Not that I need any more, but I'm always happy to add a bargain or two to the stash.

Isn't USAirfix a wholly independent franchise to Hornby :?: I believe they make their own decisions, autonomous from any Hornby Group strategy

I looked at the US sale and nothing on there really got me excited. Just the usual items they have on sale.

Not putting something up for sale for Black Friday in the US would be akin to declaring you are against motherhood and apple pie. Two of the offerings on the US$ Airfix site attract me - the Sunderland flying boat for $14.99 and the new EE Lightning at the same price point.

National Public Radio (our equivalent of BBC Radio 4, I guess) reported this morning that, unless you want electronics, or are specifically interested in advertised "loss-leaders" (items sold purposely at a loss in order to entice customers into the store), then Black Friday sales are not in the economic interests of customers. Caveat emptor, indeed.

Happy modelling!

To be honest, I'm kind of glad that Airfix didn't have a black friday sale this year. My stash still has quite a number of kits in it and I don't have anywhere to store them.

I have noticed that a lot of the BF deals in the UK are actually bad and not really that much of a saving.
The retailers will put most of the items on sale a few weeks before, then raise the price before the sales. Then it looks like a great deal when they lower the items back to a sale price.
In reality, the price they quote for the sale and the price they state was the price before sale are not accurate. I have never seen an item in sales that has ever sold at it's full quoted before sale price.
I believe that retailers inflate the RRP of a product just to make it look like a good saving (I'm not saying Airfix have ever done this though).
